“So, what’s going on with you and Jimin?" Seokjin asked, stretching his long legs on the sofa and resting his head on the armrest. His curiosity was piqued by Yoongi's silence. "Yoongi-ah, I'm talking to you," he said, raising his voice.
Yoongi set his feather pen aside, propping his chin on his palms. "He asked me to be with him forever," Yoongi replied, gazing at a spot on the ceiling.
Seokjin followed Yoongi's gaze. The ceiling was adorned with a painting depicting Yoongi's long journey: the dark realm, souls, and fire cracks. In the midst of the chaos was a small box floating, more like a jewelry box.
Yoongi stretched his arm, pointing his index finger at the box. A small, gold-colored light emanated from his fingertip, and in the next second, the box was in front of Yoongi. He opened it with heavy eyes and took out a ring.
Seokjin straightened his posture immediately, eyebrows knitting together. "Don’t tell me you’re going to propose to him," he asked, though it sounded more like a warning. A demon can’t be bound to anyone, especially if he is the one who keeps peace between the realms.
"I did," Yoongi mumbled.
"WHAT??" Seokjin screamed. "You can’t do that to my Jimin. You know you can’t."
“.... "
"I asked him years ago, Seokjin-ah… Many more years ago. Even I forgot to count," Yoongi sighed, his voice heavy with the weight of countless years.
Seokjin’s full attention was on Yoongi now.
Yoongi took a deep breath, eyes distant as he began to recount the story. Seokjin listened intently, knowing this was a rare moment of vulnerability from the usually stoic demon.
"It was centuries ago," Yoongi started, his voice low and filled with a haunting sadness. "Back when I was still human. Jimin was a prince, and I was his bodyguard. We met when we were both very young. Jimin was always so full of life and curiosity, and it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with him. Our bond grew stronger with each passing year, though we kept our feelings hidden from the world."
Seokjin nodded, encouraging Yoongi to continue.
"One night, under the light of a full moon in the royal garden, I decided to take a risk. I had a ring—a simple band made of silver. It symbolized our love and the future I dreamed of with him.even it may seem foolish.. "
Yoongi's eyes softened at the memory. "I proposed to him that night. Jimin accepted with tears in his eyes, and we spent that night dreaming of a life together, away from the constraints of royalty and duty. He slipped the ring on his finger and said, 'Only death can remove this from me.'"
The atmosphere grew heavy as Yoongi's expression darkened. "But our happiness was short-lived. The very next day, I was called away to handle some urgent matters at the palace gates. But in the meantime Rebels who wanted to overthrow the monarchy attacked the palace. The chaos was unimaginable. In the midst of the attack, I fought my way back, desperate to reach Jimin, but I was too late."
Yoongi's voice cracked slightly. "When I finally reached Jimin's quarters, he was gone. There was no sign of his body, only chaos and destruction. I searched everywhere, hoping against hope that he had somehow escaped. But all I found was the ring. It lay on his bed, covered in blood."
Yoongi's gaze turned inward, haunted by the memory. "In that moment, I remembered Jimin's words from the night before: 'Only death can remove this from me.' The pain across my chest was unbearable. I searched for him like a wild dog, tearing through the palace and the surrounding areas, but I found nothing. Jimin had vanished without a trace."
