"Anakin?" Ahsoka whispered. They had been on the ship for several hours when a space monster approached them. The monster made Anakin choose: Ahsoka and the crew...or one last chance to see Padmé before she died. "I have to see her." Anakin whispered, placing a hand on his padawan's shoulder. "But we'll die..." Rex whispered, looking around. Obi-Wan was facing the ground. He knew of Anakin making a choice like this. He had trained him for more than 10 years, after all.
"I know." Anakin whimpered, pointing to the crew. It was either he died...or the crew. "MASTER!" Ahsoka screamed, her voice cracking. Anakin wouldn't listen. He couldn't look her in the eye. He wanted to, more than anything. He didn't want to give them up. Anakin didn't want to sacrifice his master, padawan and captain. "I'm sorry."
He could hear Padmé's voice. "Come home, Ani. I love you." he wanted to believe it was true. He wanted to, so badly that it hurt. The monster looked at Anakin, grabbing the crew with lightning (pretend there is lightning in outer space.) Ahsoka was groaning in pain. She tried to reach out to Anakin. She held out a hand.
Master. Even if I d-die. I love you. You will ALWAYS be my brother. Goodbye, Anakin.
It broke his heart. Anakin looked at the space monster. He wanted to change his answer. He wanted himself to die instead of Ahsoka. He didn't care anymore about Padmé.
"Stop," the monster heard. He turned around to see Anakin, lightsaber in hand, ready to fight the space monster. "You...what are you doing?" Anakin scoffed at the monster's rough voice. He wanted to KILL this creature and save his Padawan. Even if it meant he would never see Padmé again.
"A-Anakin. What are y-you doing?" Obi-Wan stuttered, still choking. He was questioning Anakin, not for the first time. Unlike the others, Rex smiled. He knew what the general was going to do. "Finally." Rex whispered, his grin widening even farther. Anakin chuckled, approaching the monster, stabbing it in the chest. It let out a scream in agony. "IMBECILE." were its last words.
