-Next Morning-
I wake up groggily, my e/c hues slowly lifting to seeing beams of sunlight shining in from the window outside. I could hear the faint chirping of birds of all kinds, and the same rustic scent that was so nostalgic swarmed me. I got up from under the sheets and I couldn't help the small smile from forming on my lips. Today was going to be a difficult day with all the cleaning and, maybe some farming? But I know I could do it.
I yawn as my feet touch the floor, and as I begin walking to the very small kitchen, I hear knocks at the front door. My ears immediately perk at the sound, and I turn, now heading for the house entrance. I don't check to see who it is, and I turn the doorknob, being greeted with a purple haired girl, a welcoming grin on her features.
"Hi! You're the new farmer, yeah?" Her blue eyes twinkle as she looks slightly up at me, her glossy locks blowing in the warm air around us. "I'm Abigail."
She offers a hand to me, and I glance at it for a split second before taking it in a soft grasp. "Yeah, I am–It's [Name]." I reply, my voice full of kindness as I smile gently at her.
"I can already tell you're lowkey chill. Like you don't give a fuck." She laughs, her eyes brightening. "Its awesome. Oh, and I don't want to sound like I'm prying or anything, but was Mr. [Last Name] your grandfather? I assume he is given this is his farm..?"
Her tone turns sympathetic at the end, and my features turn somber. But I answer anyways. "Yes, he was."
Abigail nods. "You know, he was a genuine and kind man. I didn't know him well, but from what the adults here say, he was super helpful and was a joy to be around." She puts a hand on my shoulder, making my eyes widen.
"I just know that you're gonna make things around here bright again."
I stare at her for a few seconds out of shock, before my expression slowly turns grateful, "Thank you. I plan on it."
Her smile returns. "Anything for my new friend! Now, here's my number!" She hands me a little paper, "You could come over and we could play games sometime, or go to the saloon–In fact, I need to introduce you to my other friends. But that's another story. Just let me know when you wanna hang, 'kay?"
My chest warms up from the fact I have a friend here, and someone I could depend on. I grin. "Yeah. Yeah, that sounds nice. I might be a little busy for a few days, but then I'll try and get in touch with you when I'm free."
A small laugh escapes her lips. "I can tell! I usually don't work—But if you need me to help–"
I wave her off, "Nah, I'm okay! I wouldn't want to give you that much of a workload. I can do all of this by myself."
She stares at me, a bit uncertain, but nods. "Alright N/N. Just be careful. I gotta dip, but please just remember what I told you!"
"I will!"
She was gone within the next minute, and I shut the door, sighing to myself as I slump down towards the ground, my butt hitting the floor. I groan knowing I have to cut down some trees and walk through sticks and whatever that's gonna poke my ass.
I kid you not, It's a terrible experience. But this is what I signed up for.
Let's go, you brave hoe.

I knock down another tree, wiping off the sweat that had collected on my brow. Perspiration stuck to my skin, the jacket I was wearing earlier discarded and leaving me in only my tank top. The sun was still high in the sky, and I could tell it was just right after noon. I purse my lips as I look up at the clouds that slowly moved through the sky.
It was only spring, and it was getting warmer each day that passed. I sighed as I threw the axe on the ground. My gaze drifted over to the path that lead over to the town–I should get some seeds. Just to try and get some more money and while stuff is still in season. I began to walk down the pathway, noting that the bus stop also needed some cleaning up. There were untrimmed bushes and trees that blocked the overall entryway.
Few seconds had passed before I saw the large plaza and more buildings in the distance, and right over to my left there was a store called Pierre's and along with another trail. Something about that looked familiar, but I ignored it as I entered the shop, the brisk air conditioning cooling my body down. It smelled like wood and materials, and as I looked around, I realized this place had a lot of stuff that I could take advantage of.
I hum.
I look ahead and see an older middle aged brunet with glasses, and as I walk forward, he notices me. "Hey Farmer Girl!" He calls out, a grin on his features as he stares me down. "You're new here right? My daughter Abigail told me about you."
"I–"
"I wanted to welcome you here to the town. My names Pierre, and if you need seeds you can get them from me. We have parsnip, beans, cauliflower, potatoes, tulips, kale, jazz, rice and garlic. Although, don't get the garlic. They're not necessarily tasty. Oh, and if you need grass, then you can also get that from me."
I look at him weirdly. "Thank–"
His grin brightens. "If you want, you can also sell your wares to me. It would be really beneficial to my store. Just depends on if I want it. Anyways, what are you here for?"
I stare at him.
"Oh! Sorry. I can get a little ahead of myself." He awkwardly laughs, "Just tell me if you need anything."
I nod, not bothering to say anything as I walk away and to a shelf. He seems too overbearing.
I grab some potato, cauliflower and parsnip seeds, along with some assorted tulips. I quickly pay and exit the store, not really wanting to get wrapped in another one sided conversation with the male behind the counter. I wonder how Abigail deals with that–He doesn't really seem.. What's the word?
Reliable.
I shake my head, walking around town with the bag of things I've gotten in my hands. The fresh breeze passes by me, and as I go down further south, I see a house that looks familiar–It was a pleasant blue with peeling paint, and was slightly blocked by a brown fence. Next to it was a house that was decorated in a creme color. I catch a distinct scent of salt hovering in the air, and I realize that there must be a beach nearby.
There was a saloon also nearby, probably the one that Abigail was talking about previously. If I'm not wrong, I'm pretty sure most of the town goes there after dark. There were more buildings, but I decided that I should probably go back to the farm to water and plant these things before evening. I turned around and began to head back north, turning left and then arriving back at the disaster of a plot I agreed to fix up.
I began to clear a substantial amount of land just for starters, making sure there was enough space for what I had just bought beforehand. By the time I was done with planting everything and watering what I could, it was about seven pm. The sun was low in the sky, casting a beautiful sight of colors and allowing the dim light of the stars to shine. Sweat had started collecting on my skin again, and my muscles were slowly getting used to the force I had been exerting onto them.
I breathe, sucking what oxygen I could get into my lungs. I toss my hoe onto the ground, knowing that's not the last time I'm going to be doing that, then I head inside. I grab a quick meal and devour it, then I start to get ready for bed, taking a quick shower, changing, and then cuddling myself up in my beautiful, succulent, gorgeous sheets.
And then I pass out within the next five seconds.
