I weaved my way through the crowd of students and faculty, searching for the familiar face of my friend, Hyunjin. My eyes scanned the campus grounds, taking in the hustle and bustle of university, when I finally spotted him.
He was sitting in the university garden, his back against one of the old oak trees. Even from a distance, I could recognize his tall, lean figure and the jet-black hairs that stuck out at a rakish angle.
I paused, taking a deep breath before I began to approach. I navigated through the labyrinthine campus pathways and finally reached to the stairs leading the garden.
I reached the edge of the garden, my footsteps hushed by the soft grass beneath my feet. As I move closer, I could see that Hyunjin was lost in his own thoughts, his gaze fixed on some distance point.
I cleared my throat, making my presence known "Hyunjin," I called out softly.
His eyes widen in shock and surprise as he looked up at the sound of my voice. He rubbed his eyes, as if trying to convince himself that he wasn't hallucinating.
"Heaven? Is that really?" he exclaimed, his voice rising in disbelief "Here, at the university? But.... how? I never expected to see you here..."
I smiled at him "It's really me," I confirmed "I thought I'd surprise you" I settled down on the grass next to him, making myself comfortable. The grass was cool and slightly damp under my fingers, and the air carried a faint scent of the nearby flowers.
"It's a beautiful day today, isn't it?" I said, looking out at the clear blue sky above us. "But not more beautiful than you." Hyunjin said while staring at me.
I chuckled, a mixture of amusement and embarrassment at his bold compliment. I was well aware of his feelings for me; his infatuation was as obvious as it was endearing "Flattery will get you nowhere," I teased, giving him a playful nudge with my elbow "But I appreciate the sentiments."
Hyunjin blushed, his fair skin turning a delightful shade of pink as he stumbled over his words. "I-I'm sorry," he stuttered, his eyes darting to the ground "I didn't mean to be so forward. It's just... you're so stunning, Heaven. It's so hard not to let my words run away with me sometimes.'
"It's alright," As I reassured him with a smile that felt more forced than genuine.
I reached in my bag and pulled out a single, deep red rose. It had come from Jungkook's daily bouquet, a habit he had developed in the last week. Every morning after his workout, he would carefully select flowers and arrange them into bouquet for me. It had become a daily routine for him, a small gesture of his possessive affection.
As I held the rose in my hands, I fiddled with it nervously, the thorns slightly digging into my skin, but I barely even noticed.
Hyunjin's eyes widen in shock as I slowly extended the delicate red rose towards him. He watched in utter disbelief, his mouth slightly agape. For a moment, he simply stared at the rose, as if he couldn't comprehend what was happening.
