Part 8

Emerald stood with Gabi at the school gate, waiting for Zain and Zarin.School was over for the day.They waited for minutes and just then, they saw them approaching.
Emerald took a sigh of relief. She was too exhausted and needed to go home.
" Seems you have waited for long ? ", Zarin asked looking at their tired faces.
" We have ", Gabi said.
" We're sorry ", Zain sighed.
" Yeah really sorry. We took the whole time", Zarin smiled apologetically then encircled his arm around Emerald's waist as they walked.
" You look tired ", he admitted.
Of course, she was really tired. She needs enough sleep after all stress in school for the day.
" I am ", she said. "But it's fine with you by my side ", she smiled. Zarin chuckled.
" Really ? But you should try to get enough sleep once you get home ", he said then sighed." Sorry for keeping you and Gabi too long in school. I was discussing something with the art master ", he explained clearly.
Before Emerald could say anything,  Zarin said,  his voice so loud, " There will be a hit match between The Blues and The Defty Strikers today ! ".
Defty Strikers and The Blues. Emerald had an idea it was one of the football club in town. They usually play football matches on a pitch behind Dugan park . People usually go there to watch football for pleasure.She hardly go there, though it's not far from her home
" Are you guys coming ? ", Zain suddenly asked.
Mimi thought for a while." I'll try to ".
They turned their glance to Zarin.
" I'm assured you'll be there Zarin ", said Zain. " Last time, we nearly lost the match all because of your absence. No perfect goalkeeper ".
Zarin was silent. Few seconds later, he sighed then said," I wish I can but Mr Ray gave I and Mandy an assignment".
Did he just say Mandy? Emerald couldn't tell.
Zarin is popularly known to be the top best artist in school. He is good in painting and receives presents annually from the school, for being the best in art. The art teacher, Mr Ray cherish him a lot.
" Assignment ? ".
" It's a paired project work. I don't like the idea either just that...", he couldn't finish talking.
He only replaced it with a sigh while looking at their faces. It haven't been easy for Zain to go anywhere without him neither Emerald. She felt bad.
" I promise to come next time ", he said trying to cheer them up but it wasn't working." I'm sorry guys ", he murmured.
Gabi nodded accepting his apologies. " There's no problem. We can go together ", she said, smiling while taking a quick look at Emerald and Zain.
Emerald felt her heart skip a bit. Going out with them isn't a good idea for her. They'll have nothing definitely to chat and it'll be apparently boring!
"I'm_ I'm not coming ", she stammered.
" Why ? ", the question came like a chorus.
" I'll be busy with my books ", she lied. She didn't want Gabi to feel bad.
Zain chuckled. He knew it was a lie." Zarin isn't coming so she's not coming too ", he said to clear Gabi's mind. She knew he said that only to annoy her.
He isn't wrong.There's this weird feeling she normally have whenever she's alone with him or Gabi . Maybe it was because they weren't close.
" I'll be going now. I hope you guys catch some fun ", Zain smiled at them. It was time for him to part his way.
" Stay happy ", he whispered to Emerald, patting her hair in a swift moment, before bidding them goodbye.
Stay happy? How can she stay happy?
