Part 9
Emerald lay on the bed during the evening. She had expected herself to be deeply asleep but she couldn't. She only lay on the bed like a vegetable. The continuous ticking sound of the clock and distinct rattling of lorries passing by resounded in the silent room.
She tried to sleep but she wasn't feeling any sleepy. She was alone at home. Julie had gone to attend to her customers. She is an amazing hair stylist known by most. She started this from a young age, making her gain a feeling of love for her work.
Her Granny at the other hand, have gone to her bakery. She told her earlier that she'll have a lot to do at work. She'll have to sell off her cakes and pies before the day breaks. How she enjoys her Granny's pies and cakes. It seems as though they are made with special ingredients. No wonder she attracts a lot of customers.
Gently, she got out from the bed. How can her day go with such boring ending? Being alone in the house have always reminded her she had no siblings, just Julie and Granny. Her parents are no more. So sad!
She thought of her cousin Nell who'll always complain about her siblings. She'll usually tell her how troublesome they are and how they wouldn't let her have some privacy. " I wish I have no siblings. I'll indeed be the happiest girl ", Nell would say but Emerald found it unthoughtful. She wished she could switch lives with Nell even if it would be just a day, then it'll be her happiest day. Being the only child is too boring .She wished there's someone to give her troubles or intrude her privacy.
Plodding to the bathroom, she took a quick shower, brushed her hair neatly then slid into a pair of denim shorts and a white t-shirt. Walking to the shoe rack, she grabbed a pair of sneakers. Where is she going to? She had no idea. Zarin is busy and she wouldn't like to disturb him.
Dugan park? Oh no! she wouldn't like to see Zain's annoying face . Well, Zarin had told her to remain happy. She might catch some fun there.
Shortly, she was at Dugan park . Looking around, she noticed the match was still going on. She came on time. Yes she did but she isn't here to watch and enjoy the match. She only came to stay away from home.
" Emerald ! ", a female voice went behind her. Before she could turn, the girl embraced her warmly. Oh Gabi, it was Gabi. She seems excited.
" Gabi ", a hint of smile touched her face. The hug was unexpected.
" Thanks Goddess you came. I was bored ", Gabi said. She have already pulled away from the hug.
" Yes I...".
The whistle blew loudly, interrupting their dialogue. The players plodded away from the field. It was a short break before the second half.
" Look who's here ", Zain said from behind. Emerald could detect amusement in his voice. Devil, she thought silently.
She looked away from him but he continued." You finally came after..."
" I'm not here for you! ", she interjected.
Hearing the irritation in her voice, he smiled." I never asked you who you came for ", he voice was calm yet annoying.
He opened his mouth to talk again but she suddenly snapped ," Would you just slid your mouth into your pockets ? ! ".
" I have no pockets ", He smiled, willing to offend her more.
" Let's walk around the park ", she said to Gabi, ignoring him. She didn't want to have a bad day. Walking around with Gabi would be better.Hi readers ♥️ Hope you enjoyed this part? Click vote and share your feelings about this book in the comment section
