The air crackled with excitement as Kristel walked into the guidance counselor's office. She clutched the acceptance letter in her hand, her heart pounding with a mixture of joy and anxiety. She had been accepted into a prestigious art program in Paris, a dream she had cherished since she was a little girl.

But as she looked at the letter, her thoughts drifted to Kyou. He was everything to her, her rock, her confidante, her best friend. The thought of spending a year apart, separated by an ocean, filled her with dread.

"It's an incredible opportunity," the guidance counselor said, her voice filled with enthusiasm. "You'd be learning from some of the best artists in the world."

Kristel nodded, her mind racing. She knew the counselor was right. This was a chance of a lifetime, a chance to hone her skills, to grow as an artist, to experience a new culture.

But the thought of leaving Kyou behind, of facing a year of separation, filled her with a sense of loss. She had never been apart from him for more than a few days at a time. The idea of being so far away, of not being able to see him every day, made her heart ache.

She spent the next few days lost in thought, her mind torn between her dreams and her love. She talked to her friends, her family, and even Kyou's mom, seeking their advice. But the decision ultimately came down to her.

One evening, she met Kyou at their usual spot in the woods. The setting sun cast long shadows through the trees, creating an atmosphere of intimacy and reflection.

"I have something to tell you," Kristel said, her voice trembling slightly. "I got accepted into the Paris art program."

Kyou's eyes widened in surprise. "That's amazing!" he said. "I'm so happy for you!"

But Kristel could see the flicker of concern in his eyes. He knew what this meant, what a difficult decision it would be for her.

"I don't know what to do," Kristel said, tears welling up in her eyes. "I want to go, but I don't want to leave you."

Kyou took her hand, his touch warm and reassuring. "I understand," he said, his voice filled with empathy. "This is a huge decision. You need to do what's best for you."

He looked into her eyes, his gaze unwavering. "I'll be here," he said. "I'll always be here. No matter what you choose."

Kristel leaned against him, finding solace in his presence. She knew that no matter what decision she made, Kyou would support her, just as he had always done.
