The outcome was very obvious. The distance that was created between them, Jungwook could see it coming from a mile away. He knew what would be happening, he knew how things would be working out. Everything was very obvious, too obvious not to realize.
But still, he still couldn't adapt to the new environment. It was suffocating him, it was irking his heart, it was messing up with his brain.
A few days had passed already, the newly grown distance between them was notable for everyone surrounding them. The most obedient assistant in the whole department, the most loved superior in the whole department, the duo seemed to be far away all of a sudden.
They wouldn't exchange much of words, they wouldn't share their thoughts about the case they were handling, they wouldn't look after each like before. Everything was quite awkward and strange for everyone to witness.
They couldn't help but ponder what had happened between the two most lovely duo that they had to distance themselves like this.
It was all a mystery for them.
Today's weather wasn't different from usual days, the temperature was getting colder as the months passed by. Still people couldn't take a step back from celebrating the new year event, the Christmas. They seemed very happy to celebrate all the events even in this freezing cold temperature.
Outside it was snowing even at day, the sky was overcast with clouds. It seemed like it could rain any moment. Jungwook didn't want to step out of the station even for a moment but he loved rain. When he saw the drops of rain falling from the beautiful sky, he could never restrain himself from going to touch them, feeling the wetness against his fingers.
He had been loving rain since childhood.
Jungwook bluntly stared at the clouds running around with a turtle’s pace. He was really wondering whether it was going to rain or not.
His eyes swiftly converted their gaze to the man sitting in front of him, sharp eyes glued to the monitor’s screen. The man was really into the case, sometimes Jungwook couldn't understand his obsession over this case.
Was it because of the huge time a simple missing case was taking or was it because it's related to Jeon Jungkook and the first suspect was Kim Taehyung?
Jungwook couldn't figure it out.
He witnessed it with his bare eyes when Hajoon confessed to Taehyung about him also liking Jungkook. Hajoon said he fell for the boy at first glance. But…
Why did he react like that when the same question was shot at him by Minhyuk? Why did he explain the matter with so much disgust? Why was the only visible emotion on his face was nothing but disgust?
Jungwook couldn't distinguish the truth, he couldn't understand which part of Hajoon was telling the truth. If he really liked Jungkook, why was he reacting like that in front of Minhyuk?
Jungwook couldn't understand at all. The man sitting at a distance was open like a book, always smiling to everyone, always treating everyone politely, always being gentle with everyone. But behind that warm smile, there was disgust that was covering his face. Behind that politeness, there was annoyance. Behind that gentleness, there was harshness.
Jungwook couldn't figure out which was supposed to be true.
Ding!
The sudden sound of the notification startled Jungwook, his eyes finally moved from Hajoon and landed on the phone resting on the desk. The lock screen lit up, showing a notification of a new message. The contact surprised Jungwook to the core to have a sudden heart attack.
