I rechecked the luggage one last time before zipping it. I assured myself that I was being paranoid and forgot nothing.
"All perfect?" Lena asked, skimming through my schedule list.
I nodded, walking out of the room. I was entering into the darkness that once covered my life, turning it upside down.
"You'll have a meeting first and then you need to—"
"I know" I interrupted "You already went through it twice"
She let out a dry laugh, throwing the papers to the nearby table. There had never been a day without her nagging at me and now it's all going to fade
"I'm gonna miss you," she pouted
Lena opened her arms wide, coming closer only for me to take a step back. She immediately folded it to herself.
"It's—it's okay" she fumbled with her words. She never forced me, she never judged me, she never made me feel like a monster.
"Let's go," I said, turning around to face the stairs
Ezekiel waved from the entrance as I stepped down the last stair. He was in a suit. Since he hit puberty, I think even he never saw himself without a suit.
"Morning, Angry bird" he smiled
"Don't do that, it makes me nauseous" I narrowed my eyes at him
"Winda, seriously" he walked closer, and I took a step back
"I stick to my words Ezekiel. I swear, if you ever come near me, ever again, I'm going to rip out your kidneys and shove it down your throat" My hand went to my back, pulling out a dagger from my waistband I placed it in front of his nose "and push it out of you with, this" I pressed the dagger to his nose.
"I haven't–I'm not done" Panicking, Ezekiel took a step back, putting a space between himself and the dagger
"Finish it somewhere else" I walked past him and stopped. My eyes caught something.
I turned around to face him once again. This time my eyes didn't meet his blue eyes, they went down to his wrist. An anklet on his wrist.
"Where did you get that?" I straightened my face. Fire filled my stomach.
I took a step closer to Ezekiel, making take one back
"I got it from a shelf" he mumbled, hiding his wrist
"Which?" I questioned
"Your" Ezekiel again took a step back placing the anklet between our face
I snatched it from his hands "Stay. Away. from. My. things" I taunted
"Aaah... Let's go" Ezekiel wrapped his around me and walked outside
I groaned pushing him away. He is the only person who didn't get knocked out for having his hands on me, and that too just for his dad's sake
"I swear I'll stab you" I hissed pointing the dagger at him
"Get on Angry bird" Ezekiel laughed opening the car's door for me and pushing me inside, he closed the door
I sat on the seat and heaved out a sigh, can a person be this annoying? I let out another sigh as I opened my palms, revealing the anklet
"Why aren't you wearing the thing I gave you?"
"What if I lose it?"
"We'll buy a new one. carry it with you" he smiled "I'm wearing the bracelet you gave me. See" he showed me his wrist
