"I can't believe it all happened" Ezekiel scoffed, "You really do have thick skin"
"Yes, I do Ezekiel" I sat up on the bed, my head felt heavier than usual. Specks of sunlight danced on the floor through the partly drawn curtains, casting a warm glow in the room. "I believe I did the right thing about him" My mouth filled with a slimy bitterness.
"How could you sleep this tight after almost having Bennet kill me" Ezekiel's voice slightly muffled as my phone tangled in the duvet
"I've always been able to sleep through storms" I retrieved my phone from beneath the sheets and pressed the mic to my chin, "I trust my instincts more than you. Bye"
"Winda–" I ended the call and slammed it against the mattress
The adrenaline hadn't calmed down yet, the back of my head was throbbing. Something about the stranger with a familiar name feels weird. Sunghoon Park. If anything were up, Ezekiel would've known and he would tell me. What if he missed something? What if he is hiding?
I groaned out loud. Ezekiel wouldn't do something like that. If he gets a chance to laugh at my grave– it would be a lifetime achievement for him. He is annoyingly loyal. Someone like him could never–
Just then, my phone vibrated, jerking me out of the maze of thoughts. It was a message from Ezekiel. Before I could open the message my phone rang and Ezekiel's ID popped up.
"Winda, there seem to be some activities near Myeongdong district, I believe Luther Redley has your arrival notified" his tone had changed entirely from earlier.
My heart skipped a beat at the mention of the Myeongdong district. It was one of the busiest and buzzing streets in Seoul, Korea—a place filled with nightmares. I always knew, one day my past would catch up with me.
"Do I have to be there?" I asked
"It's best if you stay cautious and avoid the area for now. I'll let you know after having something concrete" Ezekiel cautioned. "Lena and I will land by night. Stay low till then"
Well, I was thinking why something wasn't going wrong. Ezekiel or something else. Avoiding Myeongdong is better said than done.
A sharp knock on the door startled me for the second time I woke up. I crawled out of bed and eased out my hair, I looked at the mirror, the slight scent of sweat and perfume lingered on the white shirt from yesterday, and I didn't get a chance to change. Pulling down the black fabric on my leg, I ran towards the door. With a quick glance through the peephole, I opened the door seeing sunghoon at the other side of the door.
"Why are you here?" I opened the door and stepped back letting him inside
"Someone named Ezkeel texted me this address" he answered, stepping inside. His eyes darted around taking in every inch of the place
"Ezekiel told you to be here?" Ezekiel proves that men can be unexpected.
"Yes, he texted me this address and told me that Row is here" Sunghoon turned around to face me "Is this your house?"
"For the time being," I answered, pushing myself past him to my room. "Wait for a second. I'll be back" I shut the door and clutched my heart, leaning my back to the door. Something was off, I could feel it in the air.
I took a deep breath to steady myself before opening the door. Sunghoon was seated on the couch, his gaze fixed on the painting on the coffee table. He was in a grey hoodie and his brown hair strands looked more golden than brown in the sunlight. He pushed back a few strands of hair that were barely touching his eyes and turned to look at me.
"Hey," I greeted, walking toward the coach and sitting across, facing him "Want something... to Drink?" I cleared my throat, hoping it would clear out uncomfortable tension in the air.
