As the city lights danced through the window, painting their faces with fleeting patterns of light and shadow, Fourth's voice lingered in the air between them. His words, though calm, carried a weight that only the two of them could understand.

"I don't want to live in fear of the past anymore," he continued, his gaze fixed on Gemini. "I don't want Heart and Liming's story to be a burden. I want it to be a guide, yes—but not a chain."

Gemini squeezed his hand, nodding. "We can't let their love be something that holds us back. We have a chance, Fourth. A real one. They didn't get theirs, but we can live for both them and ourselves."

The car slowed as they approached Fourth's apartment, the street quiet and bathed in the golden glow of the lampposts. Neither moved to leave immediately when the car stopped, the engine still softly purring. They stayed there, the air between them charged with unsaid things—desires, fears, hopes.

Fourth let out a deep breath, breaking the tension. "Come upstairs?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Gemini nodded without hesitation. There was a silent understanding between them that tonight was different. They had crossed a threshold, and there was no going back. Whatever happened next, they would face it together.

---

Inside Fourth's apartment, everything felt oddly normal. The familiar scent of sandalwood lingered in the air, the living room tidy but lived-in, as if nothing monumental had changed in the world outside. But everything *had* changed. The weight of their shared past lives loomed over them, yes, but now it felt more like a tapestry, weaving them together in a way that was both surreal and grounding.

"Do you ever think about what we would've been like—if we'd met before all of this?" Fourth asked, settling onto the couch, his gaze drifting to the floor.

Gemini tilted his head thoughtfully. "Before Heart and Liming?" He joined Fourth, sitting close enough that their knees touched. "I think we still would've found each other. Maybe not the same way, but something tells me we were always meant to."

Fourth smiled at that, the warmth in his eyes chasing away the lingering shadows of doubt. "I hope so."

They sat in companionable silence for a few minutes before Fourth stood abruptly, walking over to his bookshelf. Gemini watched him curiously as he rifled through the books, finally pulling out an old leather-bound journal.

"I found this a while ago," Fourth said, handing the journal to Gemini. "I didn't understand it at the time, but now it makes sense. It belonged to my grandfather—he kept records of old family stories, legends. There's a part in here that talks about a love that transcends time."

Gemini's eyes widened as he flipped through the pages, his breath catching when he saw the names *Heart* and *Liming* scrawled in faded ink. "Your grandfather wrote about them?"

Fourth nodded, sitting beside Gemini again. "I never thought much of it before, but after everything we've uncovered... it can't be a coincidence."

Gemini read through the entry, the words jumping off the page:

*"They loved each other in secret, their bond stronger than any force that tried to pull them apart. Though the world was cruel, they held onto the belief that their love would find its way back to them. Even in death, they made a promise: in another life, they would meet again, and this time, nothing would stop them."*

"They knew," Gemini whispered. "Heart and Liming knew they'd meet again."

Fourth's eyes shone with emotion. "And here we are."

For a moment, neither of them spoke. It felt as if they were standing on the precipice of something huge, something that had been waiting for them to discover it for lifetimes. Everything clicked into place—every dream, every moment they had shared felt like it was leading to this revelation.

"We have to honor them," Gemini said finally, his voice steady. "But we also have to live our own lives. We can't let their tragedy be ours."

Fourth nodded in agreement. "I don't want to lose you, Gemini. Not in this lifetime. Not in any lifetime."

Gemini turned to face him, their eyes meeting in a moment that was both intense and intimate. "You won't," he promised. "I'm here. We're here. Together."

The tension in the room shifted, no longer heavy but filled with a sense of purpose. It wasn't just about Heart and Liming anymore. It was about *them*. Fourth and Gemini—two people who had been brought together not just by fate, but by choice. They had chosen each other, over and over, across lifetimes.

---

In the weeks that followed, they dove headfirst into their research about Heart and Liming. The journal proved invaluable, revealing more details about the couple's life and untimely deaths. They visited libraries, spoke to historians, and even traveled to old neighborhoods where Heart and Liming had once lived. Each discovery felt like a piece of the puzzle falling into place.

But amidst the research, Gemini and Fourth didn't lose sight of their present. Their relationship deepened in ways neither had anticipated. The lines between their roles as actors and their real lives blurred, but it didn't matter anymore. They knew what was real.

On set, their performances were nothing short of extraordinary. Every scene crackled with emotion, every glance exchanged between them felt electric. The crew noticed the change, whispering amongst themselves about the chemistry between Gemini and Fourth. But no one knew the real reason behind it. No one knew that the love they were portraying wasn't just fiction—it was the continuation of something that had started long before the cameras ever rolled.

As the final scenes of the series were filmed, Gemini and Fourth felt a sense of closure—not just for the characters they played, but for Heart and Liming. They had honored them, told their story, and now it was time to move forward.

---

The night of the series wrap party, Fourth stood on the balcony of the event venue, looking out over the city. The lights below twinkled like stars, and for the first time in a long time, he felt at peace.

"Hey," Gemini's voice broke through his thoughts, and Fourth turned to see him standing in the doorway, a soft smile on his face. "You okay?"

Fourth nodded. "Yeah. I'm just... thinking. About everything."

Gemini stepped closer, leaning against the railing beside him. "It's been a lot."

"It has," Fourth agreed. "But I wouldn't change any of it. Not one moment."

Gemini smiled, his eyes soft as he looked at Fourth. "Neither would I."

They stood there in comfortable silence for a while, the cool night air wrapping around them like a comforting blanket. And in that moment, it felt like everything was exactly as it should be. The past, the present, and the future were all aligned, and they knew that whatever came next, they would face it together.

Fourth turned to Gemini, his eyes shining with certainty. "We did it," he said, his voice firm. "We gave Heart and Liming the ending they deserved."

Gemini nodded, reaching out to take Fourth's hand in his. "And now, we write our own story."

Fourth smiled, a smile that was full of hope and love. "Together."

"Always," Gemini whispered, pulling Fourth into a gentle, lingering kiss.

As they stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, the world around them faded away. The ghosts of the past had been laid to rest, and all that remained was the future—*their* future. And this time, it would be a love story with no end.

The stars above seemed to shine just a little brighter as the two of them stayed on that balcony, hand in hand, ready to step into the next chapter of their lives. Together.
