It was indeed summer now. The sun is extra hot today. I can't bare to stay two minutes under the sun without burning my skin. I opened my yellow umbrella before I stepped out of the house.
The ray of the sun illuminate the color of my umbrella. The breeze is scorching hot. I just hope I came to school without bathing with my own sweat.
"Yeorum-ah!" I hear footsteps coming from my back.
I looked back at him. I had to lift my umbrella a bit so I can take a full scan to his face. He rummaged the pocket of my bag, as if putting something inside of it. Well, knowing him—not the type of guy who would put rock inside my bag.
His hair is a bit damp, makes his hair flat down and spikey. He is wearing a white shirt beneath the white all unbuttoned polo of our uniform. His bag is hanging on his shoulder. From the look of him, he looks like he rushed himself out of the bathroom to catch me here.
He snatch the umbrella from my hand. I quickly jump myself under the umbrella. He's that tall that I had to move a little closer to him because the umbrella is too small for two!
"You turn off your alarm again." I commented after averting my eyes from his hair.
He touched his hair and upon realizing that he didn't even dry his hair. I saw the menace look from his face and I'm too late to realize it when he shake his head, making his hair spit some water and went from me. He laughed when he saw my reaction.
I immediately get away from him and snatch my umbrella. God, I can't with this guy! I quickened my steps while he's still laughing his ass out. I heard him calling my name but I didn't stop. The day is not even starting yet he already ruined it.
"Okay, okay, I won't do it anymore." He said between his chuckles.
He even cock his head to show me that his hair is not damp unlike earlier. I sneered to him. If you're wondering, his name is Lee Heeseung. We've been (friends) since kindergarten and up to this day I still hate him to be considered as my friend friend. He's been bugging my life for nine years now.
They moved out in front of our house but their new house is just kilometers away from us. Wherever I go, he's there. He's like a magnet I can't take away from myself.
"What are you having for lunch?" He asked.
"Strawberry yogurt," I replied.
He grimaced. "Boo! No fun."
"Unlike you, I'm not purging from ramyeon."
"Ramyeon is the best thing has ever made in this world. And spam," He smiled like an idiot.
Obviously, he's a ramyeon enthusiast. He claims himself that he cook the best ramyeon. He even made me try it to persuade me to agree with him. Every noodles taste the same for me, just different brand and flavor. Argue with the wall.
"Uh-huh. Very unhealthy. Definitely no fun."
The banter didn't stop until we're in front of the school. We parted ways—after I went inside the room. He always do that. He's like a father watching her daughter fully get inside the room. He's really weird you know.
I sat on my table. I opened my bag to organize my books in my table. I found the strawberry milk inside.
Eun-soo and Sunoo is still not here. I don't blame those two. They're the biggest hater of summer class. They would rather spend their summer out of the country than school. But when they found out that I took a summer class, they did too.
"We're afraid you might be FOMO." Sunoo said, one time when I asked them why would they take summer class too.
I just rest my face in the palm of my hand and stared at the window. Even though the sun is scorching hot, there are still boys playing in the court. My eyes fixed to the guy recklessly walking under the shade of trees. The ball went from him after the guy shoot it in the ring.
Heeseung bend to pick up the ball. Being his usual self, instead of passing the ball to the boys'—he position himself and throw the ball. My mouth went agape when the ball smoothly went inside the ring. I wonder why he drop the varsity team two years ago?
Well, he never really wanted to talk about that. I brushed it off and wander my eyes around the room. When will Eun-soo and Sunoo come? I think I'm a bit early or they are just late.
I opened the strawberry milk and sip on it. This is going to be my first class in summer. I'm hoping for a twisted and tropical summer.
