I walk alongside Daisy through the quiet streets as the afternoon sun begins to sink, casting long shadows and painting the sky in soft shades of pinks and oranges.

We'd spent most of the day at a coffee shop after leaving school, talking non-stop about anything and everything, our conversation flowing effortlessly from one random topic to the next.

But now, as we head home, the silence between us feels different—peaceful, thoughtful, as if we're both lost in our own worlds, reflecting on our stressful, admittedly short school day.

Daisy has been gripping my hand firmly the whole way, and despite all of today's events, her touch has a calming effect on me.

I brush my thumb over her fingers and can't deny the warmth that spreads through me whenever she beams up at me when we make eye contact.

By the time we reach our appartement, the world feels distant, like a separate reality in which I have Daisy all to myself.

The others aren't back yet, but we head straight to her room anyway.

The silence between us feels heavier, but not uncomfortable, more like the kind that lingers when there are unspoken words hanging in the air.

Once we're inside her room, I glance around.

Daisy lets go of my hand and launches straight onto the bed, stretching out on top of the covers.

A laugh escapes me at the relaxed expression on her face. How does she manage to always look amazing? She grabs the remote off her beside table and turns her tv on facing me.

"What do you want to watch?" She asks politely.

"I don't mind anything you want-"

"Are you going to come here and sit down or just stand there." She giggles, and the sound fills the air, bringing a smile to my face. I could listen to her laugh all day.

I walk round to her bed and jump on top of it next to her, making the whole bed shake under my weight. I lie down next to her, propping some pillows up behind me so I can still watch the movie.

"I was thinking we could watch a kids movie." She says looking over at me, I give her a look and she laughs again. "What? Kids movies are classic, and funny and great. You're going to need to get out if you can't appreciate them."

I put up my hands in surrender, and reply, "We can watch whatever you want Dais, as long as I'm here with you."

"Ugh, so cheesy." She rolls her eyes, but I could swear I see a soft blush spread across her face.

The movie begins and I am moving closer to Daisy ever minute.

She obviously realizes as she moves closer, without a word, and rests her head on my shoulder.

I breath in the scent of my shampoo, vanilla.

The warmth of her body radiates through her oversized hoodie and heats me like a hot water bottle.

As Up progresses and the girl, Ellie stumbles up the hill, Daisy lets out a sniffle.

I raise my head, craning my neck down and see her wiping her eyes, clearly trying to hide her tears as they drop onto her hoodie. Without thinking, I slip my arm around her shoulder and pull her closer.

"Hey, you're ok." I murmur into her ear.

Daisy doesn't say a thing, but leans into me fully now, her cheek pressed against my chest.

Her quiet sniffles tug at my heart, and before I can stop myself, I tilt my head down and press a gentle kiss to her forehead.

"Thanks," she whispers, her voice shaky but warm with gratitude.

As the movie continues, Daisy's breathing evens out, and I feel her body grow heavier against his. She's falling asleep on me. I smile softly to myself, realizing how right this feels.

I glance down at her peaceful face, brushing a stray stand of hair out of her face, while the movie's soft soundtrack fills the room. She looks so beautiful like this-calm, safe, trusting me completely.

"What are you doing to me Dais?" I whisper, my voice barely above a breath. "I really like you...but have no idea how to tell you."

She stirs slightly beneath me, but she doesn't wake up. I freeze for a second, wondering if she heard me, but when she settles back down, I let out a quiet sigh of relief.

She didn't hear. Or at least, she won't remember.

I lean my head back onto her soft headboard, whilst animated figures dance around on the screen with a brightly colored bird somewhere far away.

The real world seems so far away now, it's like it's only us. This whole thing with Daisy...it's even more complicated than I thought.

But the way she fits so perfectly into my arms now? It's everything I've been wanting without realizing it.
