Zaden hovered across the sidewalk, stopping as he realized he was passing the gates of the Champion Estate. He turned and hyperextended his vision. He could see Lula soaring across her kitchen atop her pillow. She was lying on her side with her cheek against her hand, smiling calmly as she flicked her tail and caused all the gunk on the dishes to disappear. Then she flicked her ears and the dishes hovered up and drifted into the cupboards—they closed as all dishes were put away.
Zaden's melancholic frown maintained, though he started to feel a wave of peace. Watching Ferret Forefounder Lula always instilled a sense of peace within him, just as watching Lester made him feel confident. He was looking forward to training with her and Lester at the Cosmic Warrior Training Grounds tomorrow. Zaden slowly turned his head to face forward, while his eyes continued to watch Lula swaying her long, elegant body around more dishes that rose and hovered into their cupboards.
The black ferret clenched his teeth and flicked his ears, causing an X-shaped cut to form on the back of his forearm. He winced in pain—it was enough to distract the yearning in his heart.
For a moment, he was pained but satisfied. Then his eyes narrowed with disgust as he rolled back his sleeve and gazed at the cut. He flicked his ears to heal it—as soon as the wound healed within seconds, he quickly hovered forward, flicking his tail to summon a black hole.
Meanwhile, Lula lifted her eyes to gaze out her window. She hyperextended her gaze, just in time to see a black tail disappearing into a black hole right outside the Estate Gates.
"Hmm..." Lula raised an eyebrow. Her gaze shifted, however, as she noticed Jedidiah and Lester were hovering in front of her gate—Jedidiah looked like he was about to ring the gatebell, but had paused to banter with Lester.
Lula gave a pensive smile in their direction. Then she summoned a black hole, shifted into it, and emerged from a white hole that appeared above Lester's head. "Hey boo." She tickled the side of his neck with her tail.
"Gah!" Lester jumped aside in surprise, whirling around with a surprised frown. As soon as he saw that it was her, his frown morphed into a smirking grin. "Lula, baby! Was just gonna drag your skinny ass out for a Cosmic Battle Exercise. Jedidiah's finally done wasting his time fighting Whiteout Terrorists—about time he sticks around to do something useful for us." He shot Jedidiah a teasing grimace.
Jedidiah flicked his ears, summoning a quick spark to strike Lester between the eyes.
"Agh!" Lester jerked his head back.
Jedidiah gave a wheezy laugh. "I never said I'd be usin' all my spare time on your wimps." He fixed Lester with a frown-smile.
Lula hovered her pillow behind Jedidiah and leaned forward to hug his scrawny shoulders.
"Oh Jedidiah, you're finally back!" She cooed in her airy, childlike voice, snuggling her cheek against his. "I missed youuuu..."
Jedidiah slightly inched his face away from her, looking subtly taken aback. Then his frown-smile returned. He spoke in a quieter voice. "Sweetheart, go kiss and cuddle with yer pillow. Ye know I don't like this."
