"Prove me that you have never felt something towards me."

The atmosphere at the Formula 1 race in Austria was electric. The sun shone down on the red stands, and the paddock was bustling with mechanics, journalists, and fans crowding around the team garages. The air was filled with the scent of burnt fuel and the tense anticipation that precedes a race. Haydée found herself in the heart of this chaos — in the paddock, amidst the noisy machinery and excited people. Beside her stood Hugo, who had offered to accompany her this time for support. It was his attempt to help salvage their relationship, which had been strained lately.

It was the first time in a long while that Hugo had actually been willing to do something for her, so Haydée thought it could be a good start. Perhaps sharing this experience at the races, which she loved, could strengthen their bond. But now that they were finally here, she sensed Hugo was there more out of obligation than genuine interest.

He stood beside her, hands in his pockets, clearly bored. While energy and excitement flowed around them, Hugo merely looked around indifferently, as if he were in the wrong place. Haydée caught him glancing at his watch several times, and each time, it hurt her. She felt that his presence wasn't born from a real desire to spend time with her but rather an attempt to ease the tension between them, which had been building for some time.

On the other hand, this was the first time Haydée truly enjoyed being in the paddock. She wasn't there out of obligation but because she had called Charles herself and asked for a ticket, wanting to support him in his fight for the world championship. Perhaps she still didn't love fast cars, but the more time she spent around them and watched them, the more normal — and maybe even not so bad — it began to feel. She would never sit in a race car herself, but if people wanted to do it, she thought, why not let them?

"So, what do you think? Do you like it here?" she asked him, although she already knew the answer. He didn't like it here, but he would pretend it was absolutely amazing. Even though they had been drifting apart in recent weeks, Haydée still knew Hugo well. She could tell when he was about to lie.

Hugo shrugged and sighed. "Well, it's a bit loud, isn't it?" The response surprised her because she hadn't expected that. She had hoped he would play tough and act as if being in the paddock was fantastic. She didn't expect him to admit it wasn't perfect.

Haydée tried to smile, but it was half-forced. "That's Formula 1, Hugo. Races just aren't quiet." It had taken her several races to get used to the noise these cars could produce.

Hugo nodded and mumbled something under his breath, but his lack of interest was clear. He kept checking his phone, obviously preoccupied with something other than the race — probably something about stocks, as that's what he had been focusing on most recently. He and his friends had decided they were going to get rich by trading stocks. So far, they weren't succeeding. When she caught him replying to a work email, she realized it was more than just the noise and chaos around them.
