Charlotte watched as Engfa left the room, disappearing somewhere outside.
She suddenly felt the urge to talk to Engfa again, maybe to follow up on her earlier offer. It was out of character for Charlotte, but she couldn't shake the curiosity she felt.
This was the first time Charlotte had ever felt this intrigued by someone.
She had never thought of another woman as anything more than a potential friend, but something about Engfa was different.
She found it amusing how just a few minutes of small talk had left her feeling this way, yet she couldn't deny the magnetic aura that seemed to surround Engfa whenever she was near.
"Marima, I'm going to get some fresh air," Charlotte said, standing up as Marima nodded and gave her a supportive smile.
She made her way out through the main door, scanning around for where Engfa might have gone.
Eventually, she found herself in a spacious garden surrounded by tall trees. From a distance, she could still hear the sounds of the charity event, the chatter and laughter of people enjoying the night.
She wandered further away, not realizing how far she had gone until the main house was no longer in sight.
Charlotte sighed, thinking maybe Engfa had already left. She felt a bit disappointed, assuming that Engfa's invitation was just a polite gesture from a wealthy woman.
Maybe Engfa was a player who did this often for fun, and that thought left Charlotte feeling a little foolish. After all, why would someone as captivating as Engfa be interested in her? She wasn't as stunning as most of the women in that room tonight.
Lost in her thoughts, Charlotte suddenly felt a warm breath against her ear and heard a whisper..
"Looking for me, beautiful?"
The voice was soft and sent shivers down her spine. She quickly turned around, almost stumbling in her heels, but Engfa caught her by the waist. "Careful, princess," Engfa teased with a smile, their bodies now incredibly close. Charlotte's heart pounded wildly, her breathing all over the place.
"Oh! You scared me!" Charlotte blurted out, trying to steady herself. Engfa removed her hand from Charlotte's waist, and Charlotte immediately missed the warmth and comfort of that touch.
"Sorry, but what are you doing out here?" Engfa raised an eyebrow. "Were you looking for me, Miss Austin?"
Caught off guard, Charlotte fiddled with her hair and dress as if they were the most important things in the world at that moment, avoiding Engfa's gaze. "No, I was just getting some fresh air," she mumbled.
Engfa chuckled-a sound Charlotte decided she wanted to hear more of because it was oddly addictive. "So, why are you out here too, P'Fa?"
Engfa's eyes twinkled with amusement. "P'Fa, huh?" She stepped closer to Charlotte. "Most people who just met me call me P'Engfa or Khun Engfa"
Charlotte felt her cheeks warming up and mentally scolded herself for being so familiar. "Sorry, Khun Engfa, I-"
"Relax, I'm just teasing you. Call me whatever you want, Char," Engfa said, her tone light and playful.
Charlotte nodded, feeling incredibly flustered, even the way Engfa called her -Char- was so different.
She tried to step back, but Engfa only moved closer, and now Charlotte's back was against a tree. "Uhmm..." she glanced around nervously. "I think we're standing a bit too close, aren't we?"
Engfa placed her hand on Charlotte's waist again, a touch that sent a wave of unfamiliar sensations through her body.
"Do you think so, Miss Austin? I think this is perfectly normal," Engfa replied, her voice low and teasing.
