Three days had passed, and Engfa couldn't shake the feeling that something was off with Charlotte, no matter how hard she tried to convince herself otherwise.
It wasn't just a fleeting thought-it was in the way Charlotte no longer initiated small conversations. Normally, Charlotte was the one who would spark discussions, ask random questions, or bring up any topic just to fill the silence. But ever since the fake Lady of Thorn was stolen, Charlotte had grown eerily quiet, as if she had sealed her lips shut.
Engfa was always sensitive to change. She could feel it, even in the smallest details.
The day after the robbery, Marima and the Suphatra Diamonds team quickly held a press conference, following their receipt of information from Henry Valois. Valois claimed he had swapped the diamond and currently had the original in his possession, asserting that an informant had tipped him off about the robbery.
The Suphatra team took Valois at his word.
They revealed to the press that the stolen diamond was a replica, a precautionary measure in response to rumors of the impending theft. The real Lady of Thorn was securely stored in a location known only to a select few.
The news caused an uproar.
While some praised Suphatra Diamonds for their foresight, others were suspicious, accusing the company of using the situation as a ploy to increase the value of the already priceless diamond.
Still, everything was unfolding according to Engfa and her team's carefully laid plan.
In just a few days, Engfa and the others would head to Singapore as scheduled. Henry Valois was already there, enjoying a vacation with his security team and living life to the fullest before the upcoming diamond exhibition the following week.
Engfa and Faye maintained regular contact with him to ensure everything was in order.
But despite all these meticulous plans, Engfa's mind was preoccupied with just one thing: the woman who was pulling away from her.
For the past three days, Charlotte had become distant. She refused Engfa's hugs and kisses, constantly coming up with excuses-she was busy, had too much work, or needed to focus on her laptop.
When Engfa finally made time for her after a meeting, Charlotte left with her bodyguards to head to the InQuest office.
It was clear now-Charlotte was keeping her distance.
That afternoon, as Engfa lay on her bed, her thoughts were consumed by Charlotte. She even started planning how to ask her on a date. She'd already reached out to Faye and her other friends for ideas, wanting to make the first date something unforgettable. But how could she create a special moment when the woman she wanted to share it with seemed to be acting like she didn't even exist?
Engfa sighed deeply, frustration building with each passing minute. Doubts and questions swirled in her mind.
Did Charlotte suspect her involvement in the robbery?
Had she seen something that night she wasn't supposed to?
Was she doubting Engfa's story about the injury on her leg?Every possible scenario pointed to Charlotte, and it was driving her crazy.
Unable to bear it any longer, Engfa grabbed her phone and dialed Charlotte's number. But, just like before, Charlotte didn't pick up. In fact, she even had her bodyguard answer for her, and when he handed her the phone, Charlotte brushed it off, saying, "Tell your boss I'll call her later."
