(Karma's POV)

When I got back from the park after hanging out with Okuda, Rio, and Kayano, I couldn’t stop thinking about her… Y/N, right?

That whole back-and-forth with her—the way she dodged my questions—it didn’t sit right. I rubbed the back of my neck, fingers lingering there as I leaned against the doorway. She had answers ready, sure, but they were too neat. It was like she’d practised, trying way too hard to look casual. Suspiciously smooth.

Even with everyone there, my mind kept drifting back to the hill, to how rattled she got when I pushed her. She played it cool, sure. But the cracks were showing. I clenched my jaw, feeling the muscles tighten. It was almost like she’d rehearsed for a one-act play… but hadn’t prepped for the encore. Kinda interesting, really.

Maybe I should pay that hill a visit myself. See if I missed anything interesting.

I pushed open the front door, slipping off my shoes at the entrance. The house was dead quiet, except for the hum of the AC. The cool air hit my face as I stepped in. I dropped the bag with the pastries and milk on the counter, glancing around.  A moment later I realised why the place felt so empty.

A note was sitting on the coffee table, right where I’d expect it. Scribbled in my mother’s handwriting, like always. “Urgent business trip. Back soon.” Yeah, right. Same old story. They hardly stick around for more than a day or two. When they said they’d be here for a week, I knew better than to believe it. Clicking my tongue, I crumpled the paper, tossing it into the trash without another glance.

I sighed, my fingers drumming absently against the counter before heading to the fridge. I opened it, started putting away the stuff I’d picked up earlier—strawberry milk cartons and pastries. My mind was still whirring. The whole thing with her—Y/N—it didn’t add up. Sure, things didn’t go exactly as planned at the park, but I wasn’t exactly disappointed either.

My lips curled slightly, a small smirk I couldn’t quite hold back. That girl definitely kept things... entertaining.

After stocking the fridge, I grabbed a glass of water, taking a long sip as I leaned back against the counter. The cool liquid slid down my throat, but it didn’t do much to stop my thoughts from spinning. My fingers idly traced the rim of the glass, my eyes drifting to the window. The house was still, but my mind? Not so much.

That girl... Y/N... She really thought she could pull that act off without anyone noticing, huh? My fingers tapped absently against my arm. Too bad for her—I’m not that easy to fool.

I headed upstairs, my steps a little slower than usual as my thoughts kept turning over the same questions. The empty house? No big deal. I’m used to it. It actually gave me more space to think—and figure out how to make her crack.
