"Hey little munchkin! How are you?" I asked as I entered in.
"I'll leave, Mr. Lyon." Mia said
I nodded and sat on the floor beside Nicolette who was sitting with her back against the bed.
"Hey tiny... how are you?" I asked her.
"Caleus..." she cried as she hugged me.
"Don't cry, munchkin...it'll affect nom nom cupcake, wouldn't it?" I tried to reason with her.
She slowly quieted down and began...
"Nova doesn't want me to meet James ..." she said sniffling.
"It was a collective decision. Both Nova and I decided upon it, we need to check if he's clear."
"He is really nice.." she tried to argue.
"He must be really nice...but we need to have a few background checks. It's kind of like a routine." I told her.
"But-"
"It's important as we don't trust him." Nova said as she stood leaning at the door with her arms crossed.
"But what about me? What if I trust him?" She said
"We trust you, right Nova?" I asked turning back.
"Yes, of course and we want what's best for you." She said.
"I know... sorry" Nicole said.
"Then let's go I want you to meet someone special." I said.
"Emma right? She's here? I'll get ready." Nicolette asked
I looked at her surprised. How did she know about Em?
Nova looked at me and smiled saying, "I might have told her a thing or two."
"Oh.. you guys scared me. Now you get ready...I'll get Emma to the study. " I said.
