“Lets get married.”

She stood up from the table like she wanted to go get married right now.

Her beautiful arms hanging down her frame. I didnt know sleeveless attires were this attractive.
“Right now?” I regretted asking it, as soon as it got out of my mouth.

She rolled her eyes. Okay, that was hot. Too much frustration for a tiny little girl like her.

“Can we go somewhere else?” she requests. I love it when she requests.

I receive the card back from the voucher and lead her to the exit. The urge to pick her up…

When we were back in the car, I grunt nervously. The space around us feels small.

She sighs and turns towards me, giving me a mini heart attack. Her eyes. There was something about her eyes. They were a different shade of brown. Grey mixed with brown? Like ashes and honey. There was something about them, and the way they scanned my face. And oh when she lined them with kajal? I could die a happy man with her looking at me.

“Aap sun rahe hain?”

“Sorry?” she was saying something.

“I was saying something. Kahan gum hain aap?” her eyes looked worried. I shake my head.

“Sorry, liken Daneen aap nai khana bhi sahi se nahi khaya. Please let me buy you icecream.” I know she loves icecream. She used to call Ravi and ask him to bring her ice cream whenever he was out and not at the hospital.

“No, I am fine.” she looks away. I don't like that.

“Please?”

She looks at me again. I have never seen someone so pretty. She looks comfortable now: the temperature adjusting to her body again. She doesnt look away this time.

Kya haal kardya hay aap nai?
Dekhti nahi ho to dil beqarar hojata hay
Or agar dekh lo to nigahain milai nahi jaateen.

I start the car and drive us to the nearest icecream parlour. She said she doesnt want to leave the car so we sit here and wait.

“As I was saying,” she clamps her hands together, “I have my exams starting next week and I won't be available for the next two months. And I wouldn't want to just graduate and leave my family house. Especially when I dont even know anything about you-”

“What do you want to know about me?”
She stutters or rather look for words. Interesting.

“I haven't thought about what I want to know about you.” She looks away. She is shy. Hm, I like that too.

“To sochna shuro kardain na.” I smirk. She starts looking out of her window, biting her lower lip. God damn it. How many times would she bite that? Will she let me replace her teeth?

Someone knocks on the window. Its the waiter.

“Here’s your chocolate fudge.”

“How do you know I like chocolate fudge?”

I smile, “you may have never noticed me, Daneen, but I have. Over the years, I was waiting for you, I have noticed everything about you.”

Her eyes widened a little and her lips part. Blush creeping over her face. When she realises, she quickly traps her lower lip again beneath her teeth. I offer her the icecream cup, and when she brings her hand forward I place it on the dashboard. I dont want to rush things. She should feel comfortable first.

“You were saying..?” Honestly, I didn't give a damn about what she had to say about the marriage and our future together. As long as she was close to me, it was all I needed.

“I was saying that I would need time after my graduation.”

“How much time?”

“Maybe three or four months?”

“What? 3 or 4 months? Why?”

She licks her lips before saying, “I don't know how to cook-”

“I have a chef.”

“I dont know how to maintain a house-”

“We have helpers.”

“We dont know each other-”

“We wouldnt be able to know each other until we start living together as a married couple. Dating doesnt show you the real side of people.”

She sighs. Taking a bite of her ice cream, her face brightens. This time she keeps her moans to herself. Too bad. But she doesnt say a word until she is done. Mine is turned to liquid. How could I gulp on an ice cream when I could look at her eating one?

“What do you want us to do then?”

“I was thinking we should schedule our nikkah this weekend before your exams. And then we can plan the rukhsati after your exams. We can get to know each other in these two months, without dating. It would be completely appropriate.”

She gulps and unconsciously starts playing with her little jhumki again.

“I’ll think about it.”
