It was already dark outside, the four boys and one animal were walking to the portal room to go back to their dorms, "Phew... we managed to avoid expulsion. That was a close one!" Deuce sighed with relief.
"Yeah, no kidding!" Ace chuckled.
"La la la la la! I'm a student at Night Raven College! La la la! I'm gonna be the top mage on campus in no time! Enjoy eating my dust, boys!" Grim grinned confidently.
Simon yawned again, he wanted to hurry to his dorm, but he was too tired to rush. So, he took his time, listening to the other boys talk and laugh as they walked. It was sort of comforting. It had been a long time since Simon hung out with people besides Orion.
"!!" Simon paused, "Uh-oh."
"Hm? Is something wrong, Simon?" Yuu asked the blonde.
"Uh... heh, maybe?" Simon chuckled nervously, "Nya, I should probably be going now." He said and was about to start walking ahead of them but was stopped by something or rather, someone, standing at the end of the hallway.
"Eek!" Simon flinched. He tried to back away and hide behind Yuu, but Simon was too tall so Yuu couldn't hide him completely.
"Simon?" Yuu was confused by the odd behavior; he looked down the hall and saw someone who looked eerily similar to Simon standing there.
"Uh, Ori~ What are ya doing there, nya?" Simon tried to smile sweetly at his brother, but it looked really forced.
"Huh, there's two of ya?" Grim said when he noticed the boy standing there.
The boy, Orion, started walking closer and grabbed his brother by the arm. Simon just let him, too tired to even try and struggle.
"The headmage told me what happened, Simon." Orion stared at his brother, his brow twitching and a frown on his face. Simon gulped, Orion only used his full name when he was pissed, and he was really pissed right now.
"Ah, really? W-what did he tell you?" Simon stuttered out with a smile.
"That you got caught up in trouble again, went to the Dwarf's mine, went up against a monster, and used your magic." Orion glared at his brother, who chuckled lightly.
"This isn't a laughing matter, Simon!" Orion yelled, making Simon's smile fade, "You know you aren't supposed to use your magic unless it's an emergency!" He clenched his fist, his knuckles turning white from the pressure.
Simon nodded softly, "I know, Ori. I'm sorry, nya. I shouldn't have done that, really." Simon sighed, his shoulders slumping in defeat, "I won't do it again, Promise~" He held his pinky up to his brother.
Orion stared at Simon, eyeing him to see if he was really sorry. Once he was sure that Simon actually meant his apology, he hooked his pinky with Simon's, "It better not happen again, Simon. I'm serious."
"It won't~" Simon smiled again, before remembering that they weren't alone. He turned to the other boys, who were speechless at the moment.
"Ah, Ori~ These are... uh, other freshmen! That's Yuu, Ace, Deuce and Grim! They were with me at the Dwarf's mine." Simon introduced the boys and cat to his brother. Yuu was the first to snap out of his surprise, "Uh, Hi. It's nice meet you." Yuu said, holding his hand out for Orion to shake.
Orion eyed the boy, making him nervous.
"Hmm... You're pretty cute! Nice to meet ya too! I'm Orion, Simon's twin brother!" Orion suddenly grinned and shook Yuu's hand excitedly, flustering the boy. He then looked to Ace, Deuce and grim.
"Ah, hey, You're the cat from Orientation! I see you snuck back in, ne." He chuckled.
"Myah!? I'm not a cat!!!" Grim shouted in anger.
"Oh really? My bad, Ne." Orion smiled, making it hard to continue arguing with the boy. Grim couldn't say anything to his smile so he huffed and quieted down.
Orion greeted Ace and Deuce, who snapped out of their surprise as well.
"Wow, you two really look alike." Ace commented, rubbing the back of his head.
"It's nice to meet you." Deuce shook Orion's hand politely.
Orion grinned, "Nice to meetcha too! So, you're freshmen too, Ne~? What class are ya in?" He asked them cheerfully.
"Class 1-A." Deuce answered.
"Ah, too bad~ Me and Sim are in 1-B, ne." Orion sighed with his hands on his hips, "Oh well, Since you're friends with Sim, I'm sure we'll see each other more often."
"Yeah, sure." Ace nodded, he was starting to like Orion a little more than Simon, at least Orion didn't seem as chaotic as his brother.
"Hm? We're friends, Nya?" Simon blurt out in his confusion.
". . . ." The boys looked at him blankly, "Is he serious?" Ace asked Orion.
The boy sighed, "Unfortunately, He is. He doesn't have many friends and is even more terrible at making them then you'd think." He ran a hand through his hair, "Please, just bear with him. He's not all trouble, Ne~."
"I highly doubt that." Ace chuckled.
Orion sighed, "Yeah, I know. He doesn't stop getting in trouble, but he doesn't mean any harm. Most of the time it's the trouble that finds him."
"Well, it's not like we mind." Yuu said, smiling softly.
"Yeah, he may be a handful and pretty weird, but he still helped us and stuck with us." Deuce added on.
Orion looked at them in surprise, "Really? You really don't mind? It's like his whole personality, you know, Ne." He repeated a few times just to be sure. This was probably the first time anyone had said that they didn't mind his brother's personality or how he behaved.
"Yeah, really. It's not like he got us in trouble or anything. He was pretty helpful, when he was whining about how tired he was." Ace smirked at the other blonde.
"Hey, you should have been the tired one, Nya~! You used all that magic and still had energy! You're the weird one!" Simon huffed as he crossed his arms. It made the others laugh, which eventually made Simon start chuckling too, and it shocked Orion. It had been a while since he had seen Simon laugh so happily, it was nice.
"I'm glad, then." Orion muttered, mostly to himself more than anything. He smiled, happy for his brother. Happy that Simon is finally making friends. He was about to say something, maybe congratulate his brother on making friends, when he heard Simon's stomach growl.
"Simon?" Orion's smile turned dark, "If you were hungry, why didn't you say something?"
Simon gulped, his shoulders slumped as he felt pressured from his brother's stare, "Uh, I forgot?" He really did forget about his fatigue and dirtiness, but he felt the full force of it now. He felt dirty, and his hair was still slightly damp from his sweat, and he was incredibly hungry. He wondered why he was in worse shape than the others when all he did was a bit of running around.
Orion groaned, "Simon!! Ugh, come on. We should get back to our dorm, it's late and I'm sure you're all tired." He said, grabbing his brother's arm, "We'll see you guys later, Ne~!" He grinned at the other boys before dragging his brother away. He spared Yuu once more glance, giving the boy a smile before they turned the corner.
