"Sensory Overload"

Soft rain poured over the pod, apparently for the first time in over twenty years since it has rained on Copper-9, rainstorms weren't so common since all life on the planet had died out many years ago, there wasn't much of an ecosystem to keep the water cycle flowing.

N seemed just fine, but Uzi on the other hand, not so much. The common worker drones weren't updated with the latest tech, and storms often messed with their sensors to a degree.

"Ugh... My head..." She groaned as she fell back onto her bed, catching N's attention, he looked up from his coloring and to her. "What's wrong..?" He asked softly, letting the crayon fall.

"I-I dunno- that noise-" She turned on her side, tossing her beanie to the floor as she covered her audio recievers with her hands. "Ooh..." N cooed, "The rain..?" She nodded, gritting her teeth as it poured down harder. "Ugh..."

"Gee... Are you sure you don't have a virus or something..?" He asked quietly, "Iv'e scanned like- a bajillion times- I don't think so-" She rolled over again and sat up on the bed, looking to him who was sitting on the floor.

"I don't think iv'e ever seen you without your beanie before..." He chuckled, but she only blushed. "Wha-what is it bad or something?" She asked, nearly offended.

"Naaaah... More like..." He put a finger to his chin, as if he were thinking, "Cute." He shrugged, as if it were nothing.

She furrowed her brows as she let herself fall back to the bed. "Bite me..." She mumbled as her blush grew, crossing her arms, when all of a sudden...

BOOM!

N shot up off of her floor and onto the bed with her, only to find her holding her head as her 'ears' rung, breathing heavy, curling up as she gagged. "Uzi?" He called out, reaching out towards her, she groaned.

BOOM!

It struck again, sending a shock up her body, she layed on her back, breathing heavily as the things around her began to blur, "Uzi! Uzi!" N called out, but the ringing in her 'ears' nearly drowning him out, he positioned himself ontop of her suddenly, grabbing her shoulders.

"Hey- Buddy? Uzi?" He gently tried to sit her up, but she was so out of it, starting to become frightened, her eyes began to well up with tears as she brought her hands to her head again, her visor began to glitch.

"Make it go away-" She said, panicked and unable to hear herself. She looked up to N, whom she could barely see, before rolling over and groaning as her visor glitched. "Uzi-" He reached out to her, unable to find a solution to this problem.

"I-I'm sorry Uzi-" He rolled off of her, before grabbing her under her arms and dragging her further up the bed, he gently placed her head against a pillow as she weakly looked at him, he layed beside her and pulled a blanket completely over the two, making sure their heads were covered.

"What-what's happening-" Her voice shook, the ashe-blonde cupped her face with a worried expression. "N..?" She reached her hands up to him, grabbing his wrist weakly. "I-I'm scared..." Tears welled up in her eyes again.

"Hey-Hey- it-it's okay- the storm will pass-" He lowered his head closer to hers as he rubbed her cheek. "Until then i'm here..." He leaned in, allowing their foreheads to touch.

'These worker drone models may be a little older than the ones now but... Their sensors should only be a little bit effected by such a simple storm... There's gotta be a shorted circuit somewhere in Uzi's programming or- a blown fuse...' He thought to himself.

He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard quiet sniffling, he looked down at the girls troubled face. "Sh...Sh..." He placed one of his hands at the back of her head, gently stroking her hair. "Can you hear me..?" He asked softly, looking at her with a small smile.

She opened her eyes and nodded, tears slowly streaming down her visor. "I'm here Uzi... I know it's scary but I won't let anything bad happen... 'Kay?" He spoke sweetly, touching his forehead to hers again. She nodded, "I'll protect you..." He whispered, to which she grabbed the hand that was cupping her face and held onto it, he reciprocated that of course.

"It's okay... You can let your sensors rest until the storm passes... I'm here..." He squeezed her hand gently, before she nodded and closed her eyes, snuggling into his chest, he continued to stroke her hair softly as he hummed until he too eventually drifted to sleep.

The girl slowly rubbed her eyes as she woke up, feeling like she'd slept a whole eight hours, though it had only been two, but it seemed the pounding in her head was gone and her sensors back to normal.

She looked up to N, who was sleeping soundly, cradling her between his arms and legs, with his tail wrapped around aswell. He was warm and comforting, especially during that mess earlier, did all of the worker drones on Copper-9 experience what she did?

Soon, he slowly blinked awake aswell, looking down at her. "Hey..." He whispered. "Feel better..? Sounds like the storm is over..." She nodded.

"Mmn... Good..." His voice was still clouded with sleep as he nuzzled his cheek against her head, his eyes closed again. "Was... Worried about'chu..." He mumbled.

"N..?" His eyes just barely came open again, "Thanks..." She muttered, to which he hugged her tighter. "Anytime biscuit..." Her eyes widened slightly at the sudden use of pet names, they were only friends after all, but she didn't necessarily mind it either, as a blush came to her face.

"Do I gotta stop snuggling you since the storms' over..?" He asked quietly. "No- this-this is fine..." She muttered back, "Good... 'Cus you're super snuggle-able..." He giggled as he squeezed her.

"Going back to sleep..?" Uzi asked with a whisper, he was hardly awake to begin with. "Are you..?" He asked back, "Sure..." She decided, seeing how comfortable he was, and she was too.

She nuzzled her face back into his chest as he began to stroke her hair again, "Wake me up if you need me... 'Kay..?" He cooed, to which she nodded.

"Goodnight Uzi..."

"Goodnight... N..."
