Tawan arrived at Ira's apartment, feeling a weight lift from her shoulders as she approached the door. It was early, around 6:30 AM, and she guessed Ira would still be asleep. As she reached for the card reader, the door suddenly swung open. Ira stood there, her face etched with worry. The sight of Tawan's bruised and tired form made Ira's eyes well up, and she rushed forward to embrace her.
"Hey, baby... Ira, I'm here as I promised. Nothing happened," Tawan said softly, her voice soothing as she guided Ira back into the living room. They settled onto the couch, Ira's tears flowing as she examined Tawan's injuries.
"Tawan... are you okay? Are you hurt? Why so many bruises and cuts?" Ira's questions came out in a rapid, anxious stream. Tawan managed a gentle smile, wanting to ease Ira's worry but knowing she needed to explain what had happened.
"I took care of Amonsak's men, and Amonsak himself. He was the one threatening you and your family," Tawan began, her voice trembling slightly. "I... I killed him."
The admission hung heavy in the air. Tawan's heart raced as she waited for Ira's reaction, fearful that this revelation might drive a wedge between them. Ira fell silent, her face a mask of mixed emotions.
"Are you scared of me, Ira? Am I a bad person in your eyes? If you are, please tell me. I don't want to lie to you about what I do. Death has been a part of my life, but I want you to know this will be the last time... I promised to retire," Tawan said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Ira's gaze softened as she cupped Tawan's face gently. "The things you've done... they were not right, but I understand why you did them. It was to protect me, wasn't it? What hurts me is seeing you hurt like this. I don't want you to suffer just for my safety."
Tawan sighed in relief, her heart aching with love and gratitude. "Thank you for understanding. I was afraid you'd be scared of me after I confessed."
"Only you, Tawan, can make my heart flutter like this. Only you can make me feel this way. I'm afraid you'll get bored of me," Ira said softly, her voice tinged with sadness. Tawan pulled her closer, kissing her tenderly.
"I love you the most, Ira. Forever and ever," Tawan replied, her voice filled with sincerity. They shared a deep, passionate kiss, but Tawan pulled back after a moment, wincing slightly as her lips twinged with pain from the injuries.
"Let's take a shower together. Let me take care of you, massage you. You must be in pain after fighting all night," Ira suggested, her voice tender. She led Tawan towards the bathroom, her eyes bright with a mix of concern and affection.
"I... erm, Ira... I," Tawan stammered, a bit overwhelmed but unable to resist Ira's gentle pull. They reached the bathroom, and Ira filled the tub with warm, bubbly water. She stripped down with ease, then handed Tawan a towel and asked her to do the same. Tawan's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, but she followed Ira's lead, stripping off her clothes and stepping into the tub.
As they settled into the warm water, Ira positioned herself behind Tawan, her hands gently massaging Tawan's shoulders and back. She placed soft, tender kisses along Tawan's neck, causing a shiver to run through her.
"You know, I met with your father this morning," Tawan started, trying to shift the focus away from her injuries.
Ira's eyes widened in surprise. "What did he say?"
Tawan recounted the conversation with Ira's father, detailing how she had confessed her love for Ira and sought his blessing. As she spoke, Ira's eyes welled up with tears again.
"What's wrong, Ira? Did I say something wrong?" Tawan asked, her voice laced with concern.
"Thank you, Tawan. Thank you for seeking my father's blessing. I know you don't seek approval often, but you did this for us. I'm just so grateful," Ira said, her voice choked with emotion. Tawan wiped away Ira's tears, her heart swelling with love.
"I'd do anything for you, Ira. I want us to have a future together, with or without formalities. Just being by your side is enough for me," Tawan said softly. They shared another passionate kiss, the depth of their connection palpable.
Later, as they relaxed in the living room, the news came on, reporting the details of Amonsak's death. "Amonsak was found dead, shot four times—two in the chest and two in the head," the news anchor announced.
Ira looked at Tawan with a mix of curiosity and concern. "Did you really need to shoot him four times, Tawan?"
Tawan chuckled softly, her eyes reflecting a blend of amusement and innocence. "I only shot him three times. Two in the chest. The fourth shot was actually from someone else."Ira's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Someone else?"
Tawan nodded, her expression serious but relaxed. "Yes. The someone else is Somchai. Amonsak was still alive after I shot him. He tried to shoot me, so I had to make sure he wouldn't get up again. Somchai shot him in the forehead."
"But why the extra shot? I mean, he was already dead after Somchai shot him in the forehead," Ira asked, her tone a mix of playfulness and concern.
"Well," Tawan said with a slight grin, "I wanted to be absolutely certain he wouldn't pose any more threats. And honestly, he was trying to kill you and managed to hurt me. I figured he deserved it."
Ira laughed softly, shaking her head in mock exasperation. "You really are something else, Ms. Bodyguard."
"I just wanted to make sure you'd be safe, no matter what," Tawan said, her tone affectionate.
"I'm glad it's all over, Tawan. I don't want you in dangerous situations like that again. Just be my bodyguard. That's enough for me," Ira said, her tone sincere.
Tawan nodded, her heart full as they spent the rest of the day together, talking, laughing, and simply enjoying each other's company. They shared stories of their pasts, their dreams for the future, and the simple joy of being together. For the first time in a long while, both felt a sense of peace and contentment, knowing that their future together was secure and filled with love.
