She was barely a few hours into her two weeks long vacation, and Jia was already on the plane, fleeing the country. As much as she criticized taking the plane, it was pretty much the only way to get to Canada without actually spending the two weeks trying to get there.

"Dear passengers, we are expected to land in Toronto in about an hour. Thank you for your attention and enjoy the rest of your flight. The rest of the cr..."

Jia put her ear pods back on, drowning the flight attendant's speech with her honestly way too loud music. After all, she already knew what she would say, about the crew still being here to help any passenger, blah blah blah.... It wasn't her first time taking that flight, from London to Toronto, since she had decided to leave the city to go study halfway across the world.

She spent the rest of her flight dozing off, exceptionally loud music still blasting in her ears, and she only woke up when she felt the violent shake of the landing.

"Damn it, scares me every fucking time..." she muttered under her breath.

Waiting for every other passenger to leave, she then proceeded to do the same, going into the airport and getting her heavy luggage, before going towards the exit, probably where someone waited for her.

And she was right, the only person from her family she actually liked had apparently volunteered to get her back home, and she couldn't be more grateful he did.

"Masoooon !" she practically yelled through the open space, running as fast as she could to throw herself in her brother's arms, while still carrying her purple suitcase behind her.

"Jia ! Oh my goodness it's been so long since I've seen you." Mason answered, hugging her.

"Hmm I wonder why..." Jia raised her eyebrows knowingly. "You should come to London, you know ? There's so much stuff to do there."

"I'd have to check my calendar but...." he teased, he knew damn well he didn't have anything to do except college anyway. "Nah, honestly I could just skip class for my little sis."

"Nuh-uh ? Cade children don't. Skip. School." Jia firmly stated, going towards the exit now. She suddenly stopped before the door. "Why are there so much people with cameras outside ?"

"I don't know. Maybe some celebs arrived ? Why would I even know..."

The girl caught a glimpse of a mural clock, on the wall over the doors, and loudly sighed. "It's only 8pm here and I feel like it's 1am, I swear to whatever, jet lag is the wooorse. To me it's the 15th already and I'm tiredddd."

"Stop whining like a baby and got to the car already, gosh..."

They continued their playful banter during the whole ride, Mason behind the wheel and getting them home, finally. Honestly, Jia wasn't usually this talkative, even with Mason, but having to spend the whole Christmas holidays with her parents had her really anxious, and talking seemed to be her coping mechanism.

"Don't worry, by the way, they're in Vancouver for the week, you have a few days before facing them." Mason simply said. He really knew her too well.

Jia didn't answer, but her slight frown turned into her signature upside down smile, hiding it by looking out the window. It was even colder here than in London, a thick coat of snow adorning the ground and the roofs, bringing a magical white light to the city. As much as she didn't like coming back, she had to admit Toronto did hold a special place in her heart.

Soon enough, Mason pulled into the parking lot next to the house, and they got out of the car, going towards the house. They spent the rest of the evening inside, brother and sister catching up while watching 'Wild child' for the nth time of their life, it being Jia's comfort movie, before she decided it was definitely time for her to go to bed.
