8:36am.

Same time, same destination, same subway, everyday.

And everyday, she took it for 12 minutes, going to work right on time.

But being on time wasn't the only reason for Olivia to take the metro at the same time every working day : there was this boy...

And Olivia knew it sounded cliché, crushing on some guy in the subway, a perfect stranger she never even talked to, she knew in those moments she didn't pass the Bechdel test even for a second. But even if it was just the idea she had of him that she could think of, she would portray it as heavenly.

The first time she ever saw him, she was in a rush, to be honest. She had to be at work in less than half an hour, and she never took the train so late, praying for to arrive right on time. But as stressed and anxious as she was, the moment she saw that guy, sitting right there in front of her, reading a newspaper calmly, she found a sense of peace in a split second.

She didn't even feel the time flying around them, her eyes glued on the shape of this man she had never seen before for some reason, but soon enough the doors opened to her stop and she had to come back to the world.

But she arrived right on time in the end.

And the next day, when she was getting ready, she told herself she'd take the same metro. Why ? Definitely because it made her arrive right on time at work, and definitely not because of some random boy she had starred at for a whole 10.

And on that trip, she didn't see it but, when she closed her eyes for a moment, trying to not seem like a complete weirdo, he looked at her for a second, his gaze trailing over the people surrounding him and lingering on Olivia for a little longer when it brought him a sense of... calm, seeing this brunette girl, head slightly swaying to the music in her earphones, eyes closed in what seemed like a complete peace.

He wasn't in a rush, just calmly going back home after a night shift to get a well deserved day of rest, and yet seeing her just felt right, in this short instant. He didn't know why, he didn't know how, but it just did. And as her eyes fluttered back open, he swiftly looked back at the paper that he found stuck to the subway bench he was sitting on, trying not to look like the creep he felt like.

And the doors opened, again, signaling she had came to her destination.

But as she looked back, when leaving the train, she caught the boy's look for another second, and his small smile made all her possible worries fade. Hell, the whole world did. The planet slowed down, the people disappeared and it felt like even the air paused so she could enjoy the moment a little longer. But just the next second, the doors closed back and the train left in silence, like it didn't just occurred the most ground-breaking moment of her day.

But when she woke up the next morning, she thought about talking to him so much.... when she saw him, the words caught in her throat and she couldn't speak anymore. He was so ethereal there, seating as he did the last 2 days he saw him, his brown locks of hair falling so majestically on his face, his eyes fluttering close so gracefully each time his head almost dropped down.

Even if she had had the guts to talk to him before, he seemed so tired... Olivia never would've had the mere thought of disturbing him. Even if that meant risking never seeing him again, and missing any chance she had. Not that she thought she had any, but if there was...

The boy, on the other hand, was fighting to stay awake. He didn't want to miss her. He remembered the look they shared the day before, he had thought of it ever since for far too long, it almost haunted him. But what haunted him the most was the possibility of it never happening again, it had to happen again, it simply had to. He so desperately wanted to talk to her, as pathetic as it seemed, he was just convinced he had to. But his eyelids were so heavy, his day restless and his night even more so, he was almost sleeping on that train.

And when he heard the name of the station she got out at called out in the subway's speakers, his eyes shot open, only to see her looking at him for a second before turning quickly on her heels and getting out to the station.

The boy flew up, long strides towards the door to try and get to her, at least say hello, at least get her name, at least give her his-

But so much people, so less room, and she was already out as the doors closed, the boy looking out the window he was almost pressed against by the sudden flow of people inside the train. Looking out the window to stare right into her eyes once again.

_ _ _

Olivia didn't see him, the next day. And neither did she the day after that. And the day after again.

The thought of him haunted her like a ghost of what could have been. She thought of what could've happened if she had given him her name when she first saw him. Maybe they could've exchanged a few words, maybe more than a few, maybe a fairytale like she loved to read about could've occurred.

But now he was only still a stranger, a beautiful stranger that would remain a stranger, only because she couldn't find it in herself to talk to him for a split moment...

It was the fourth day now, and yet again the boy wasn't sitting on the train like she had seen him do before. And she regretted it, regretted it so bad, feeling pathetic to mourn over something that never did happen anyway.

The doors opened, the raspy woman's voice announcing her stop through the speakers, and Olivia got out of the subway train, looking distractedly at her phone. But someone stopped her in her tracks, standing right in her way, and staying in front of her as she tried to get around them. Looking up from her phone, slightly annoyed as she didn't really want to get late over something so stupid, her eyes met stormy blue orbs that caught her attention, and her breathing stopped for a second.

"Hey um, I hope I'm not disturbing you, am I ? Do you have to be somewhere ?"

His voice was so sweet, so warm, so caring and considerate, she did not spare a thought to her work, arriving on time seemed like an odd thing she just pushed aside. She just answered, without a care in the world for anything else that could happen.

"Uh no I'm- I'm totally free right now. Do you like... wanna grab coffee or something ?"

"You read my mind !" the boy let out with a clear laugh, so cheerful yet so soft... If she thought she idealized him, she actually was still far from how perfect he looked in her eyes in this moment. "I'm Jamie, by the way." he continued, extending his hand towards her.

And as the people passed around them, not sparing them a glance, going at their day and walking soundly in the station, the girl took his hand in her own and shook it with a smile dancing on her lips.

Heyy everyone ~

I know, i know, this one's pretty short... but i liked it short like that, didn't think it needed anything more actually.

Of course, it's based off a Laufey song, she just always puts so much meaning in them, they're the perfect inspiration. Saw the little hints at the lyrics i put in there ? heheh

Anyway, see you next tme, maybe.

Love, Nana <3
