Raito's hand tightened around Shin's, and in that moment, Shin felt the connection between them spark to life. The shadows around Raito hissed and writhed, their dark tendrils fighting to maintain control, but Shin could feel their grip loosening. He could see the faintest hint of the real Raito breaking through, the cold emptiness in his eyes flickering with the light of recognition.
Zento, standing beside them, clenched his fists, his eyes locked on Yomi. "He's coming back," Zento said, his voice filled with hope. "We're almost there."
But Yomi wasn't about to give up easily. His face twisted with rage, his form swelling with dark energy. "You think you've won?" Yomi snarled, his voice like a jagged knife cutting through the air. "You think you can pull him from the shadows? He is mine!"
The ground trembled beneath their feet, the shadows swirling violently as Yomi's presence seemed to grow larger, more menacing. He raised his hand, and the shadows around him surged forward like a black wave, rushing toward Shin, Zento, and Raito with overwhelming force.
"Get ready!" Shin shouted, his grip on Raito's hand tightening. "He's trying to pull Raito back!"
Zento stepped forward, positioning himself between Yomi and Raito, his stance wide, ready to defend. "We're not letting you take him," Zento growled, his voice steady, filled with determination. "Not this time."
The shadows crashed against Zento, but he stood firm, blocking the wave of darkness with all his strength. His muscles trembled under the force, but he refused to back down. He wouldn't let Yomi drag Raito back into the void.
Shin could feel the strain in Zento's movements, but he kept his focus on Raito. "Raito," he whispered, his voice soft but urgent. "You have to help us. You have to fight... I can't do this alone."
Raito's eyes flickered, the light within them growing stronger as he fought to regain control. The shadows around him twisted and buckled, but Shin could feel the change—Raito was no longer their puppet. His consciousness was rising, breaking free from the depths where the shadows had buried him.
"I'm... trying..." Raito's voice was barely a whisper, but it was enough. Shin's heart leapt at the sound, knowing that Raito was still there, still fighting.
Yomi roared with fury, his dark form surging forward, the shadows pulsing with renewed strength. "You cannot defy me!" he screamed. "You cannot break free from the darkness!"
The wave of shadows struck again, harder this time, slamming into Zento with such force that he stumbled back, his feet sliding against the ground. But he dug in, gritting his teeth, his determination unshakable. "Shin!" Zento shouted, his voice strained. "I can't hold this for long!"
Shin glanced back at Zento, then returned his gaze to Raito. "Raito, now!" he urged, his voice filled with urgency. "This is your moment—this is your chance to break free!"
Raito's eyes locked onto Shin's, the struggle clear in his expression. He was still battling the shadows within, still trying to break free from the doubt and fear that had held him for so long. His body trembled, the dark tendrils around him constricting, but Shin could feel his friend's strength growing.
"I... won't let them win..." Raito whispered, his voice trembling but filled with resolve.
Shin nodded, his heart pounding. "That's it. You're stronger than this, Raito. You always have been."
The shadows hissed, tightening their hold, but Raito's grip on Shin's hand tightened in response. He was fighting back, pushing against the darkness with every ounce of strength he had left. The light in his eyes flared, and for the first time, Shin saw the flicker of the real Raito coming back.
Zento, still struggling against Yomi's relentless assault, growled through clenched teeth. "Raito... we need you... now!"
Raito's eyes flashed with determination, and then, with a sudden surge of energy, he pulled himself free from the shadows' grip. The dark tendrils around him snapped and shattered, dissolving into the air like smoke. Raito stumbled forward, collapsing into Shin's arms, his breath coming in ragged gasps.
"Raito!" Shin called out, catching him before he fell to the ground. "You did it. You're back."
Raito nodded weakly, his eyes still filled with exhaustion but now free from the shadowy haze. "I... I couldn't let them take me," he muttered, his voice hoarse. "Not after everything we've been through."
Shin smiled, relief flooding through him. "We're not done yet," he said, helping Raito to his feet. "Yomi's still here, and he's not going to let us go without a fight."
Raito turned to face Yomi, his expression hardening. "No more running," he said quietly. "I'm ready to face him."
Yomi let out a furious scream, his form swelling even larger, dark tendrils lashing out like whips. "You dare defy me?" he roared. "You think you can break free from the darkness so easily?"
Shin, Zento, and Raito stood together, side by side, their eyes locked on Yomi. "We're not afraid of you, Yomi," Shin said, his voice steady. "You can't control us. Not anymore."
Zento, his body still aching from the battle, took a deep breath. "We fight together," he said, his voice filled with determination. "As friends."
Raito nodded, his strength returning. "You're right," he said, his voice strong. "I won't be controlled by fear anymore."
Yomi snarled, his form twisting with rage, but there was a flicker of doubt in his eyes now. He could feel the strength in the three of them, the unity that had broken his hold over Raito.
"This ends now," Shin declared, stepping forward, his eyes filled with a fierce resolve. "We're not going to let you control us—or anyone else."
The ground trembled as Yomi let out one final, furious scream, his form twisting and writhing, the shadows around him swirling into a dark vortex. But Shin, Zento, and Raito stood firm, their bond unbreakable.
The shadows around Yomi collapsed inward, shattering like glass, and with one final wail, Yomi's form disintegrated into nothingness, the darkness vanishing into the air.
The battlefield fell silent, the oppressive weight of the shadows finally lifting. The three friends stood together, breathing heavily, but victorious.
Raito glanced at Shin and Zento, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "You didn't give up on me," he said quietly.
Shin smiled back. "We never will," he replied. "That's what friends are for."
Zento, still catching his breath, laughed softly. "Yeah, we're in this together—always."
The three of them stood there for a moment, the weight of the battle finally lifting from their shoulders. They had won the battle, but knew that the war had not yet started.
