Spiders everywhere, on my arms, biting. Simon, Simon, help!
"Gah!" I gasp as I sit up in bed, and Crona's head slipped off my shoulder. But I don't notice, I'm too busy brushing imaginary spiders off my arms.
"Rose, are you ok?" Crona's voice is worried, and he snaps me out of the trance. Simon, still asleep beside us, does not show signs of stirring soon. I nodded, and smiled. I'll have to tell him soon.
"Crona, you know that Medusa threw me out because she could not find a use in me. Without a weapon, she thought I was useless."
"Thought?" Crona interrupted. I nodded.
"The black blood gave me madness like your own, but I got something extra. I see visions, flashes of images, and words. Though I am distrustful naturally, I can tell if people are trustworthy when I first meet them."
"So what do you think of these people at Shibusen? Am I doing the right thing by being friends with them?" He looks at me with eyes like my own, but I notice the sad shape that was not there when I last saw him, eleven years ago. It made my heart break, and I was happy the woman responsible was dead.
"Yes. I can say that surely. They are good people, those friends you made. Stein, he is more confusing. Good hearted, but there is something else. Don't worry," I said, seeing his brow furrow. "Nothing to worry about."
At that moment, Patty stormed into the room.
"Rise and shine, guys! Hey Rose, is Crona a boy or a girl? We still don't know! Haha, Liz, c'mere!"
We had a nice morning before school, and as I walked up the steps to Shibusen, the black boy from when i first came called out to us.
"Hello, Kilik. This is Rose, Crona's twin." I shook hands with Kilik and met his little weapon partners, Fire and Thunder. They were adorable and clung to each other in a way that reminded me of how close Crona and I were. We also met Ox, Harvar, Kim, and Jackie. They were nice people, but there was something about Kim...
"Hurry, class will start soon." Soul yelled to Black Star.
"I don't need to hurry, I'll make it on time anyway. Besides, I'm going to transcend god!" How do I respond to that? An eye roll? Sock him? Laugh with him? This social stuff is confusing. Being with Simon was easy, because he is so laid back. But these people? Excluding Soul, they were lively and chatty. Soul reminded me of Simon in an odd way, like I could talk to him the way I talk to Simon. I shook my head.
Sitting in the bleachers above the classroom, it was hard to hear Dr. Stein's low voice over the whispers about me. The stares made me more nervous, and I squeezed closer to Crona on the bench.
"You've been quiet, Simon." I remarked after class, "what's bothering you?" He shifted his eyes away from mine.
"Can we talk?" I nod and mutter an excuse to Crona. Whenever Simon wants to talk, there is something worth talking about. When we were safe down a dimly lit hallway, Simon stopped.
"Rose, ever since you found Crona, you've been acting... Not like yourself. You're more open, but you don't talk to me as much. What's going on?" He sounds hurt, and I thought I saw the twinkle of a tear in his eye.
"I'm the broken one here, so I know what your feeling feels like. You feel like I'm rejecting you, like I found a new, better version of you." I gave a little laugh.
"You are so wrong. Had I not found you, had you not been there when I had my first break down, I would have gone insane and probably died. I am forever in debt to you." I smiled, and Simon gave me a giant bear hug. When he let me down, something started to change in the hallway. The dark walls crumbled into snow, snow closing in, all around me... Who was that over there? A student? Had they gone on an extra curricular lesson? But I just saw them this morning...
"Simon..." I gasped, "get someone to go help Ox. Wherever he is, he's trapped in snow. If he hasn't left yet, tell them to send Kim and Jackie. They would be able to handle that." We rushed all over the school, trying to find Ox. We found him getting ready to leave Shibusen in snow gear.
"Ox, Rose had a vision." Simon was out of breath, "don't go on this mission. Send Kim and Jackie, or you'll get snowed in."
"Rose," Ox said, his eyes wide behind his glasses, "how did you know that?"
