Hoorain was devastated to hear from Masab that he had married the woman he loved. At first, there was hope and a small wish that his family wouldn't allow him to bring anyone else as his wife other than her. She had been seeing this for her whole life that the men of her world would run affairs with other women but they would never marry them. Their wife would be from their family who would be respectable and prestigious. However now his announcement of the supposed hidden nikkah he did ruined everything for her. She was feeling immense hatred for that girl who stole her love from her. How she attracted Masab and then trapped him for marriage proved she was really sly.
She must be a very good seductress and cunning girl who snatched away Masab's heart and tricked his mind. Who knew she was one of those women who worked for the pleasure of men, and Masab must have seen her and became smitten by her? She must not be a good woman. Hoorain could have been born anything, but not this nikkah. There was no need for Masab to just marry that woman. Why give her his name when she didn't deserve it? Now what would she do?
That night, after a heated altercation with Masab, Hoorain came back into her room with a shattered heart and soul. New feelings of hurt, anger, and jealousy were germinating in her insides. Hurt for herself, her, and jealousy for that woman who got Masab's attention more than her. She jumped over her bed and started crying while hiding her face in the pillow. Her tears intensified, accompanied by hiccups and sobs.
All her life she had saw dreams about that man and now he wasn't hers. He said that he made no such promises of forever with her. And there she had always been in wait for just one sweet word and a calm smile directed to her by Masab. How much of a fool she was.
Getting irritated by everything, she stood back with a jerk and started pulling out her duvet, sheets, and pillows. Her next target was the things adorned on her dressing table. Within minutes, her room represented a mess with the bed covers dangling on the floor, makeup particles smeared around, and the scent of perfume in the atmosphere as their bottles were lying on the floor in the form of shattered glass pieces.
Upon hearing the sounds, her mother entered her room in panic. Hoorain was now hysterically crying. She rushed ahead and tried to pacify her by hugging her, but Hoorain resisted.
"Hoor beta, what's wrong?" Samiya, her mother was confused over this behavior.
Hoorain was a very calm and mature girl. She never acted up like this. However, what made her do this now that she even restorted to destroy her own beloved things like this?
Hoorain sobbed more. "Mama, I am devasted. I am ruined. I am left with nothing."
"Why are you saying this, Hoor?" Somehow Samiya held her by her shoulders and squeezed them in assurance. Her heart was already coming in her throat seeing her crying so badly like this.
