The morning sunlight streamed softly through the windows as Emma knocked lightly on Yn's bedroom door.
She entered with a gentle smile, carrying a neatly folded set of clothes in her hands.
"Good morning, Yn," Emma greeted warmly, placing the clothes on the edge of the bed.
"I was thinking we could go out for a walk today, maybe get some fresh air at the park nearby. What do you think?"
Yn, who had been sitting quietly by the window, turned to face Emma. Her face still showed traces of confusion and lingering tiredness, but she offered a small nod.
"A walk sounds nice," she replied softly, though her voice was still tinged with hesitation.
Emma smiled, sensing Yn's uncertainty. "I thought so too. It's a beautiful day out, and I think a little time outside will help clear your mind. Plus," she added with a playful tone,
"Eun has been asking if he can join us later. He's eager to show you all his favorite spots in the park."
Yn's lips twitched into a slight smile at the mention of Eun. "He's really cute "
Emma laughed lightly. "Oh, you don't know the half of it. That boy is full of energy and charm, just like his father."
Reaching for the clothes she had brought, Emma handed them to Yn. "I found these for you. They should fit perfectly. Why don't you get changed, and we'll head out in a little while? No rush."
Yn took the clothes, running her fingers over the soft fabric, feeling a small wave of comfort from the gesture.
"Thank you, Emma," she said, her voice sincere. "You've been so kind to me. I don't know how to repay you."
Emma waved her hand dismissively. "Don't be silly, Yn. You're my friend-my best friend. You don't owe me anything. I just want to see you feeling better."
Yn nodded slowly, standing up to take the clothes with her to the bathroom. As she walked past Emma, she paused for a moment and said,
"I'll try to hurry. I guess it'll be nice to see the world outside the hospital for a change."
Emma smiled brightly. "Take your time. I'll be here when you're ready."
As Yn closed the door behind her, Emma stood for a moment, glancing out of the window.
She hoped that this walk would be the first step in helping Yn reconnect with herself and the world around her.
Yn stood in front of the mirror, her reflection staring back at her like a stranger. It was the first time in years she had truly taken a moment to look at herself.
Slowly, she reached out, her fingertips lightly tracing the faint stitch marks on her abdomen. Her skin, though healed, bore the silent reminder of the trauma she couldn't remember.
Her hand trembled as it lingered over the scar. It didn't hurt anymore, but what did hurt was the emptiness-her inability to recall how it all happened.
The memories felt like they were locked away behind an impenetrable wall, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't reach them.
The pain of the accident, the fear, and the moments leading up to it were all blank.
'How did I end up like this?' she thought, her chest tightening as a tear slid down her cheek. The weight of not knowing her own past was suffocating.
