CH: 23 When did I get so bold?

(Ben POV)

When did I become so bold? Although I may have appeared calm to Jesse, I felt nervous the whole time.

I couldn't believe what I just did. Did I enjoy it? Of course, but who the heck was this Ben, and where has this Ben been?

All that research I did came through; at least I wasn't left embarrassed, and the look on Jesse's face showed me that he enjoyed everything we just did.

A rumbling, growling noise came, causing both Jesse and I to laugh.

"Was that your stomach or mine?" Jesse asked. I raised my head so I could make eye contact with him.

"I think that was both of our stomachs," I said, smiling.

"You might be right about that; we got a little distracted. Let's go to the living room and place our order." Jesse said, taking my hand and leading me to the living room.

We both sat on the couch, with Jesse taking out his phone and placing our order at a restaurant. I smiled, realizing that Jesse and I would have dinner together more often.

"Oh, I like the smile you're wearing right now. May I ask the reason for it?" Jesse said with a smirk.

"The thought of us having dinner together more often just made me smile, that's all," I said shyly. Jesse's smile widened, and he nodded.

"It also makes me happy; I like spending time with you. A lot; I hope it doesn't ever bother you." He said in a teasing tone, but I could tell he was serious by the look on his face. Jesse was someone that I could tell that didn't want to cross the line, that he was considerate of my feelings, and that caused my heart to flutter even more for him.

While waiting for our food, we spoke about minor things, and when it arrived, we sat on the couch and ate together.

"Are you ready for the season?" I asked him.

"Yes, but I think my mind will be distracted during the season." He said, a tint of red on his cheeks.

"Why is that?" I asked him.

"Because I am going to want to hang out with my boyfriend," he said, leaning his head on the side of my neck. I felt my face heat up; how can he behave this cute?

"And instead of being able to do that, I'm going to be practicing and only have a little time to see my baby," Jesse said, snuggling his face even more on my neck.

I chuckled as I pressed a kiss on his head.

You'll be able to see me, and I'll be going to some of your games. I'll be missing you too." I said softly.

"You're so cute," he said, picking his head up and kissing my lips.

"I'm very lucky." He said, snuggling closer to me.

"We're both very lucky," I said, letting the feeling of being with Jesse sink in fully.

"I know we spoke about this briefly, but you can let me know if you're uncomfortable about meeting someone or don't want to meet someone from my side yet. I am open to that as well. Friends are one thing, but family is especially on a whole other level. I know you and Amber were great when you met, but I don't want to force you to meet my family.

I'm looking forward to when you're ready for me to tell them about you or even more details about you. I will follow your lead," Jesse said with a soft smile.

"Thank you for saying that; how about you let me know if someone wants to meet me, and I will let you know if I am ready to meet that person?" I said to him, wondering how he would take it.

Jesse smiled and nodded. "That sounds good to me. I want us to always communicate about small or big things." He said.

"If you ever feel uncomfortable with anything, let me know. There will never be any judgment from me. I want you to feel like you can always communicate with me as your partner, and I will communicate just as much with you." Jesse said as he leaned his head on my shoulder.

"I didn't realize you were this sweet," I said, chuckling.

"I'm way sweeter than this; I hope you're prepared for it." Jesse snuggled more into the side of my neck as he said that, which made an at-ease feeling take over my body.

"I'm ready for it and won't take any moment of it for granted. It's my first time in a relationship, and I am very nervous about it. I don't know how nervous I will be in the future regarding certain things, but I know I am completely ready for anything between you and me." I said to him, kissing his head, which was still on my shoulder.

"This is so exciting. I'm simultaneously excited and nervous, but I am looking forward to this," he said, picking his head up to look at me. A huge smile appeared on his face. He is so cute, especially when he looks like that. I will always like this cute side of him.

"I'm also looking forward to having you watch me play too." He said softly.

My ears perked up on that. Was he wanting to impress me?

"I've seen your highlights; you're impressive on the field. So I look forward to seeing you play football live," I said, excited about it. Although I won't be able to make it to all his games, I will make sure to focus all my attention on the ones I can go to. I'm looking forward to it. Do you have any plans for this weekend? I know we're going out tomorrow with Amber and Lilian, but I would like to spend some time with you and me this weekend. I might want all your free time before I return for the season." Jesse said with a pouting puppy facial expression.

I held back my giggle, nodding to let him know it was okay with me to spend more free time with him.

"I like how I feel like I am not getting enough of you, " he said, and I understood what he meant by that.

"I kind of don't want you going home tonight, but I know you have to, " he said, laughing. I almost admitted that I also didn't want to go home tonight. Yet, with what happened earlier, it is best to go home tonight after all, as there is no way that Jesse and I will be able to keep our hands off each other.

We would do more than what we did earlier.

I don't know if either of us was ready for that yet. My reading and studying can only take me so far, but I know that Jesse will ensure I'm okay through it whenever we do get to that point.

"I really like you," I said to him softly.

He smiled as he kissed my forehead.

"I really like you too, Ben."

Alright, these two are cute. Now, it'll be time to advance Ben and Jesse's relationship even further. Stay tuned.
