Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be woken from a peaceful dream to the crushing weight of a rhinoceros disguised as a teen boy feels like? No, let me paint you a picture.

"Rise and shine, sugar"

"You're crushing me." This is not how I wanted to wake up today and he knows this, as do both the girls I hear giggling in the room with us.

"Aw," pinching my cheek as his bones leave impressions on my skin for decades to come, "I always knew you had a secret crush on me."

"Go away."

"Is that any way to talk to your favorite person?"

A small wack is heard against fabric, "Ow, Paris, Sarah hit me!"

"Go away."

"Now, sunshine, you gotta wake up if you want to see who won the bet about Grandma Gilmore's invites." Sarah approaches, and I can smell the strawberry lipgloss as she gets as close to my face as possible.

I pull the blanket to cover my face, a futile attempt to restart my dreams when the blanket is ripped from my grip as Tristan shoves the invitation into my hands instead.

"I hate you," attempting to glare at the grinning boy who remains seated on my abdomen.

"You wish you could," he says. "Now, open it and tell me what I want to hear."

I groan, shoving him off of me so that I can sit up in bed. The girls get closer, taking seats around me while I take a long look at the invitation in front of me. It turned out way better than I thought it would, but that's the power of Emily Gilmore.

"And we've got," I open the card to see, lots and lots of... "lace. Tristan, you're the winner. Now can I go to sleep?"

"No!" The three yell, grabbing a limb to pull me out of bed.

"I really hate..."

"You don't," the three tease back, continuing to pull me from my beautifully comfortable bed.

Grumbling, I shake my limbs to get them to let go and push them out of my room so I can get ready for the day. As per tradition, we meet as a group before school on the Monday before my birthday to kickstart a good week at school leading up to the party.

Tristan, happy with the results of the bed, links his arms with the two other room invaders before yelling, "Get dressed, birthday girl!"

Their laughter is heard through my now-closed door as they head to the dining room. Guess it's time to face the day.

After getting dressed in my usual school uniform and verifying that all my homework was in my bag, I joined the group of dream crushers in the dining room. Totally not letting go of my "hate" for them waking me up so rudely.

"Good morning, sweetheart," Dad says, barely glancing up from the stack of paperwork in front of him.

I mumble a brief response, expending most of my limited energy to glare at the three manifestations of lost sleep who are eating chocolate chip muffins while talking animatedly with Mom.

Dad follows my line of sight and laughs to himself, taking the safe path by avoiding the impending beatdown that Tristan, Sarah, and Paris are about to receive now that I've realized it's 30 minutes before my alarm was supposed to go off.

"You have ten seconds to explain before I kill you as my early birthday present."

The three drop their muffins before multiple excuses begin spewing from their mouths.

"I just drove them here so if you kill me, it should be merciful as I'm also your ride to school today"

"To be fair, we are taking you to brunch with Madelyn and Louise and they can't keep it a secret if you decide to kill us."

"Remember you think I'm pretty and it would be a waste to kill me."

The girls turn to Tristan as I respond, "I've never considered you pretty so it'd be quite considerate to people's daily view if I kill you now."

I'm incredibly unmotivated and I've been focused on not Gilmore Girls for a hot minute. Here's a mini-chapter leading up to the reveal of the invitations as Rory has no idea what to expect for parties with the Chilton Society crew. I have tomorrow (1/20) off, so I'm hopeful to find the inspiration to write way more.

Also, thank you so so much for giving my fanfiction a chance. I'm almost at 95k reads, which is insane to me. I really appreciate all the love/support/patience as this story slowly comes together.

Leave comments for any suggestions or maybe some scenes/scenarios you'd like me to explore in this book.

Love y'all!
