The days that followed were a suffocating haze of cold indifference. Their once lively apartment now felt like a hollow, echoing shell, filled with invisible walls of resentment. The warmth that used to fill the air had been replaced by a bitter chill. They moved around each other like strangers, the space between them thick with everything left unsaid.

Jungkook found solace in routine. Each morning, he would make his coffee and sit by the window, staring out at the city below. The sun rose over the skyline as always, but the sight that once gave him comfort now only highlighted the emptiness inside. The city buzzed with life while his own was unraveling. The once-familiar streets and buildings seemed distant, their vibrancy now a stark contrast to his internal desolation. Jungkook's days were spent in a daze of monotony, punctuated by fleeting moments of reflection that only deepened his sense of loss.

One evening, as he sat with a book in his hands-though he wasn't reading a single word-he felt Taehyung enter the room. The air shifted, tense but familiar. Jungkook's eyes stayed trained on the page, unwilling to acknowledge the tension. Taehyung lingered by the door for a moment before walking over to the kitchen counter, pouring himself a glass of water. The sound of the glass being set down on the counter seemed to reverberate through the silence that enveloped them.

The silence stretched on, growing heavier with each passing second. It was a silence laden with unspoken words and unresolved feelings, a testament to the chasm that had grown between them. The once simple act of sharing space now felt like a monumental task, each movement and word fraught with meaning.

"We never did go to the mountains like we planned," Taehyung murmured, his voice quiet, almost wistful. His tone was tinged with a sadness that seemed to pierce through the thick layers of their mutual avoidance.

Jungkook's fingers tightened around the book, the weight of his emotions making it hard to focus on the text. He forced himself to breathe slowly, trying to keep his emotions in check. "Plans change," he said flatly, not turning around. "We've changed."

Taehyung set the glass down harder than necessary, the clink of the glass against the countertop sharp and jarring. "Is that it? Just like that, we've changed and nothing else matters?"

Jungkook sighed, the weight of exhaustion in his chest pressing down. He felt as though he were carrying the entire world on his shoulders. "It's not that simple, Taehyung."

"Then make it simple for me," Taehyung challenged, his voice rising just a fraction, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. "Tell me where it all went wrong."

But Jungkook didn't have an answer. Or rather, he had too many. Every missed connection, every late-night argument, every moment where they could have reached out but didn't-all of it tangled together in his mind like a web he couldn't untangle. The complexity of their issues was overwhelming, and he found himself trapped in a labyrinth of regret and confusion.
