Hey, my lovelies. I got another long one for y'all. This is the second part of Distance, so if you haven't read the first part, I suggest you do so.All mistakes are mine. Enjoy!
Fantasia and Taraji spent every free moment they had on the phone together—tuning the rest of the world out. They were basically a couple that wasn’t really a couple. But who needed labels? Ummm, they did! No matter what they kept telling themselves. All they had right now was phone sex. Although it was mind-blowing phone sex, it was not the connection either of them wanted.
The phone sex was fun and exciting, but it made what they shared feel cheap and tawdry, which was the furthest thing from the truth. Everything they experienced together was driven by their love for one another. But they were too busy fighting temptation to allow that love to shine through. They were hell-bent on sticking to the notion that they were better off as friends, even though they were way past that point. And deep down, they both knew it. They needed to figure things out before they drove themselves insane.
Another night. Another phone call. Taraji asked Fantasia to repeat herself. She couldn't have heard her right. "I have a date! A weekend getaway." Fantasia said all nonchalantly, and she heard Taraji groan. Taraji wasn't even trying to hide her disappointment. This game they were playing was exhausting. She didn't think Fantasia was still talking to anyone on that level since they had been flirting with each other.
Hell, the two women put each other to bed almost every night now. Phone sex wasn't dating, but Taraji had hoped it would eventually become more. After all, she did tell Fantasia she was in love with her. They hadn't really talked about it since, but that took guts, especially for Taraji. She didn't throw those words out there too often. And she thought Fantasia felt the same way.
What the fuck? Taraji thought to herself. She was almost in tears. Fantasia was a managing partner at one of the biggest law firms in LA. She never took off from work. Especially not for a whole weekend. The younger woman was a workaholic. It was one of the reasons why Fantasia and Taraji hadn't seen each other in person for some time now. The other reason being that Taraji still wasn't ready to go back to LA. What she had gone through that made her leave in the first place still haunted her.
Taraji felt like whoever her friend was meeting up with had to be special. Fantasia felt bad for teasing. She was finally taking the leap. "Taraji, I'll be at Reagan Airport at 3 PM tomorrow. Be there to pick me up." Taraji breathed a sigh of relief. She was really hurt thinking that Fantasia was involved with someone else. But when she thought about Fantasia coming to visit, her heart skipped a beat, and her smile was from ear to ear. She was really happy Fantasia couldn't see her face. Her dorky grin was not her best look. "I'll be there," she said excitedly. They both said good night and hung up.
Taraji's smile was swept off her face by her nerves building up in her stomach. What does this mean? She knew she couldn't risk hurting Fantasia more than she already had, so she made up her mind that this was just a friendly visit. She had to keep her dirty thoughts to herself. But it wouldn't be easy. Fantasia was temptation—wrapped in desire, dipped in ecstasy, and rolled in the most pleasurable satisfaction.
