It's been three days since I was tasked to become his guide... and it wasn't easy. Jiaoqiu in character doesn't seem to be a rude, snarky, and bossy person... it's just that things aren't going along. Whenever he bumps into someone accidentally, I have to apologize on his behalf. He'd often wander off somewhere making me play hide and seek, and sometimes he'd even trip and fall. I felt pity for the man...
It's currently a fresh morning. My sister asked me to live in his place so I can take better care of him. Although I wanted to protest that; a male and female stranger shouldn't be living in the same house, she just reassured me that I should trust him, well she does know Jiaoqiu better than I do.
Right now I'm making him breakfast for us in his kitchen, it's still early in the morning and I don't expect him to wake up anytime soon.
I set the plates down with the food in the center of the dining table beside the Marquise flower in the vase. Looking at the clock, 5:42 am.
I should probably wake Jiaoqiu up...
With careful steps, I got to his bedroom door with a subtle knock. He doesn't lock his bedroom door just so I can get inside in case of an emergency. "Jiaoqiu? Breakfast is ready." I reached for the doorknob waiting for his reply to come inside, but he didn't say anything.
"Jiaoqiu? I'm coming inside, forgive me for my intrusion..." I slowly turned the knob and pushed the door open as it creaked, my eyes widened.
Jiaoqiu was moving around his room, like he was trying to familiarize the area with his arms extended and a frustrated look. His hands are touching and bumping into some furniture.
I walked inside, leaving the door open. "Jiaoqiu, let me help you..." I slowly approached him, extending my hand so he could bump into it and find me.
The moment he did, he grabbed my hand gently, his grip won't let go. Surprisingly, his hand is soft and warm, how it perfectly fits mine. "Y/N... I don't need your help, I'm just walking around." He spoke in a frustrated tone.
His face contorted from surprise, then annoyance. He's just a frustrated man who needs guidance. I placed my other hand on top of his that held my hand, my thumb caressing his hand.
"Jiaoqiu, I'm here to guide you, not to leave you hanging..." I looked around the room, it was spacious indeed... but also filled with furniture. My mind was thinking of ways to help him...
...Until I felt his hand yanked out of my touch, I stared at him in shock.
"You're not the one who has to suffer blindness. Everyday I felt more like a burden to your life. Your constant apologies on my behalf, ensuring that I don't bump into things, and practically making you live with me like you're my life support!" Jiaoqiu suddenly barked, snapping at me with the hairs of his tail rising.
A burden?... I never really thought of that before, but... is that how he really sees things from the way I handle him? I can hardly remember the things I made him feel like that. Despite all the accidental things he'd done, it doesn't matter to me.
"I know what you're feeling, it's frustrating. Despite that, I never really had any thoughts of you being a burden. And I promised my sister I'd take care of you. " I slowly extended my hand for him to take, my voice was soft for him. "I promise... you're no burden, you just need someone to guide you."
I watched him debate inside, his hand clenched and hesitating to reach and take mine... but he eventually did. Our hands are holding each other, it truly felt warm and soft all together.
"You're just like your sister... forgive me for my outburst." Jiaoqiu sighed, his hand holding mine giving it a squeeze.
I looked around, then a thought went inside my head... "Let me help you get ready." I went beside him, my hand still holding onto his. Slowly taking a few steps to his wardrobe. "One.. two... three..."
I counted, I counted the steps he took to get to his wardrobe. "There are five steps to go to your wardrobe, remember it for me." I opened it, taking his work uniform before shutting it again. I gave it to him, then continued to guide him.
"One... Two... Three... Four..."
I counted once more, reaching his bedroom door. "There are approximately four steps to your bedroom door..."
I continued to guide him to the bathroom, counting the steps and whispering it to his ear... everything I did was for him to learn on his own just so he wouldn't feel like he is a burden. From the bathroom, directing him where his amenities were, and the knob to his shower. His hands roamed around the area as he followed my instructions, then I left the bathroom for his privacy.

Meanwhile, he was done, wearing his uniform, I led him to the dining room, counting his slow steps and telling him.
As we reached, I made sure he sat comfortably, placing food on his plate and guided his hands to the utensils. "Your rice is on the left side, the food is on the right side... Can you help yourself while I brush your hair and tail?"
Jiaoqiu nodded, "Please, by all means." He then began to eat his food slowly. His tail wagged and ears twitched, I don't know if he liked my cooking... but it's a sign of something.
I looked around his home to find a hair brush, but eventually did in his room. Going back to him I began to brush his damp pink hair.
It was so soft and healthy the moment I touched it, the smell of shampoo wafted in my nose. Everything was so peaceful now. I styled his hair the way he usually styles it, my eyes watching him eat.
"Don't be afraid to ask if you need my assistance, I'm here for you." I said, my voice being gentle and a bit quiet.
Jiaoqiu placed the utensils down his plate, and the food was almost finished. "In that case thank you, and I'm also grateful for your sister, general Feixiao, for bringing you here..." He spoke softly, his ears twitching.
I noticed he had a subtle blush on his cheeks from that stoic demeanor. I wasn't sure if he blushed because of something he said, or if it's because I'm brushing his tail.
"You're always welcome Jiaoqiu." I smiled at him, humming a soft melody.
"Are you not going to eat?" Jiaoqiu asked, turning his head to look over his shoulder, eyes closed.
I stopped brushing his tail, turning my head to look back at him. "Yeah, I will, just right after this." I chuckled, then proceeded to brush his tail, but he suddenly moved his tail making me stop.
"That's enough, you deserve a break after everything you did for me." Jiaoqiu spoke in a low husky voice, turning his head away from me.
"Oh but-"
"I want you to eat with me, it's better to spend breakfast together." He then cleared his throat, a faint blush on his cheeks, his tail wagging a lot.
I'm not sure if he said it right, or... it was a slip out. I had a blush on my cheeks, I could feel it burn too. My tail was wagging back and forth, it was like it was on autopilot. My hands gripped onto the hairbrush.
That's just a slip out, nothing serious.
With a few seconds of long pause, I finally mustered myself up. "Of course, I'll eat with you." I walked to the other side of the table, sitting across from him.
I picked up my plate, putting rice and the food I made before setting it back down. I Took the utensils and began to eat. My blush wasn't going away, but nor was his...
