Today is the day Yuji and I will have a movie night at my place. If I'm nervous? Me? Pfffft...Of course!
Yuji and I have been best friends for a while now but we never made a sleepover and... I have a little secret.~
,,Ah yeah about the snacks...", Yuji chuckles awkwardly and has his hand on the back of his head. ,,I accidentally ate like.. Everything.. Sorry. I was so hungry..",Yuji looks away, probably avoiding my gaze.
My eye twitches and I groan in annoyance:,,Seriously, Yuji??? We have planned this for weeks and then you end up eating every snack that you bought??"
Yuji fidgets with his hands and still avoids my gaze:,,I'm sorry, (Y/N)... I'm really sorry..." My heart skips a beat when I see him pout and I feel my cheeks heat up a little. I shake my thoughts off and sigh softly:,,Fine. I'll only forgive you this time.."
Yuji looks up and he smiles widely:,,Thanks!! You're the best, (Y/N)!!!" My cheeks start to burn a little and I nod in response. Then we both get more comfortable on my bed and look at the movie options.
,,You basically only have horror movies...", Yuji huffs and looks at the screen. I chuckle softly and tilt my head a bit to look at him:,,Are you scared of horror movies?~" ,,N-No!", Yuji pouts and crosses his arms in front of his chest. How cute. I chuckle softly and click on a horror movie.
Yuji's expression turns into one of fear when the horror movie comes on. I giggle, covering my mouth with my hand and look at the TV.
During certain intense scenes, he jumps or flinches, a look of pure fear crossing his face. I laugh loudly and watch as Yuji hides his face behind a pillow and as he flinches again. ,,S-Shut up...!", Yuji says, his voice taking on a tone of mock-annoyance. ,,Nuh-uh..", I giggle and try to focus back on the movie.
But my attention is being drawn to Yuji while he is focused on the movie. How will I ever tell him that I have fallen in love with him? He will probably hate me... Or no, that's not like him. He would probably talk it out with me and then... What if our friendship ends because of me?
,,(Y/N)?" Yuji's voice brings me back to reality. I realise that I have been staring at him and right now, he is staring back. My body stiffens and I cough awkwardly:,,Eh.. Sorry..." I look back at the TV.
Whenever Yuji flinches, my gaze lands on him and I can't focus on the movie because I feel him moving closer each time a jumpscare appears on the screen. I swallow hard and feel my heart beating too fast. Calm down.. Calm down... Calm..
Suddenly Yuji jumps again and his hand wraps around my arm. I yelp and jump too, feeling my heart skipping a beat. My cheeks start to burn again and Yuji and I both laugh awkwardly. Then he lets go and brushes his hand against mine. Calm down. Calm down. Calm down... Why is it so hot in here? Why is my heart beating so fast? Jeez... How will I survive this night?
I freeze when I look over at Yuji only to find him already staring at me. For a while we only stare at each other. I swallow hard and feel my cheeks burning even more.
I find myself unable to look away, my eyes locking onto his as the room seems to fade into nothing but background noises. Even the movie is distant as all I can focus on is Yuji. Calm down.. Calm down... This is just an awkward moment... Calm down... Calm down...
My eyes widen slightly when I see his gaze shifting. I realise that he is looking at my lips and my breath hitches. We still don't say anything, the tension between us thick in the air.
I swallow hard and feel even more heat flood my face as I watch him flicking out his tongue to lick his dry lips.
I look into his eyes, seeing his eyes glittering and his face expression being soft. Yuji reaches out with his hand to brush a strand of hair away from my face, his touch being feather-light. My breath hitches and I feel a flood of emotions rushing through me.
Suddenly a sharp scream from the TV cuts through the moment, my eyes widening as Yujis body jolts and he... I yelp as I feel him fall onto my chest. For a moment there is silence. Even the movie is still. I feel my heart beating even faster now and I slowly look down at Yuji.
,,Uh... I-I'm sorry...", Yuji stammers and slowly pulls himself up. Even though my heart is racing and I feel a little relieved, I can't hide the disappointment I feel from him pulling away. I quickly shake my head:,,I-It's okay.."
We both just stare each other, both of us being too embarrassed from the sudden turn of events. Calm down, (Y/N)... Calm down... Breathe in... And out... But as I see his eyes move to my lips and the faint pink blush on Yujis cheeks, my breath hitches a bit. I swallow thickly, feeling like my heart is about to explode.
,,C-Can I kiss you?", Yuji moves a little closer and my heart skips a beat. I open my mouth but quickly close it again. Then I slowly nod. My stomach flips with nerves as he moves even closer and hesitantely cups my cheek, his thumb ghosting over my lip:,,A-Alright.. I'm gonna kiss you now..."
I gasp as he presses his mouth against mine in a tender and hesitant kiss. My heart pounds faster, butterflies surging through my stomach and I lean closer to kiss him back. For a brief second, he pulls away slightly, his eyes meeting mine again before he leans back for another tentative kiss, this time it's a little bolder. Goosebumps spread across my body and I shiver a bit. I kiss him back. My heart thrums wildly in my chest, the butterflies swirling at the way his hand wanders to my waist to pull me closer.
After a while he pulls away, a smug grin on his face:,,Damn.." His voice is a little bit hoarse and he clears his throat. I just nod in response and try to catch my breath. Yuji runs his hand through his hair and chuckles:,,I guess this isn't something that best friends usually do, hm?" I shake my head and clear my throat:,,Well... What does that make us then?"
,,Lovers, I suppose", Yuji leans closer and puts his head on my shoulder. I gasp and look at him:,,You feel the s-same???" He chuckles and nods. A warm feeling spreads in my chest, making me smile brightly.
After the film, we both fall asleep, cuddling with each other. ...
