My Magic Mirror 🪞

She lays her head to get some rest,
Flashing images of what she thinks best.
Inside this cage she's gifted a mirror;
To see what's hidden, to see what's inner.
And at this moment she sees her enemy;
Drowning in guilt, in need of therapy.
It's a film to remind her, to help her see;
That she's more than she perceives herself be.

In the mirror she sees a reflection,
Of what the media calls imperfection.
Staring back her heart fills with hate,
Considering an end with a cut by a blade.
With tears in her eyes she curses in anger,
Asking why life couldn't turn out better.
She's tired of trying to free herself,
From the cycle of hiding inside this cave.

As she weeps in pain comes another slide,
To reveal and reflect what's covered by pride.
In the window of reflection she sees a 'beauty',
Shuttered and misguided by her blinding fury.
Wondering how life could be so unfair,
But not so sure why she's engulfed by fear.
The magic of the moment helps her realize;
It's not what has been, but what could be.

She's a walking dead with a beating heart,
A result of what from others she's heard.
Others opinions caused this unbearable hurt,
And her will gave up without a fight.
But as she looked at these disturbing reflections,
She realised she deserved self-appreciation.
That she's human and it's only normal;
To feel this emptiness, proves she's mortal.
A girl who desires to turn dreams into reality,
Is it too much to ask or is it all just vanity.

(This was supposed to be a happy poem, for once 😑. I need therapy 😂. Wait.....is that supposed to be funny? 🤔🤷😂.)
