Kara's POV

The air felt thick with tension as Kara watched Diana from a distance. The woman carried herself with a calm, almost regal presence, but there was an underlying power to her movements that Kara couldn't ignore. As Diana questioned Jonathan about life on the farm, Kara couldn't help but feel a creeping anxiety. The Kents were good at playing it cool, but Kara knew it was only a matter of time before Diana started connecting the dots.

Kara's heart raced. She could feel her protective instincts flaring—her immediate thought was to grab Kal and leave, disappear before Diana could uncover too much. But something about Diana's demeanor kept her from running. This wasn't some government agent hungry for power. There was a strange empathy in Diana's eyes, a warmth that contradicted her role as an investigator.

Kara lingered behind the barn, clenching her fists, trying to decide what to do. Could she trust this woman? Or was this all an elaborate trap?

Diana's POV

As Diana stepped out of her car and approached the Kents, she scanned the farm with her highly trained senses. There was more to this place than met the eye. She had been monitoring Smallville for weeks, and the energy signatures she'd detected here weren't from any ordinary human. She had seen countless metahumans over the years—some who needed guidance, others who posed a threat. But there was something different about this one.

Jonathan and Martha Kent greeted her warmly, but Diana could tell they were holding something back. Their farm was far too quiet. And then there was that feeling—like someone was watching her. Diana glanced over toward the barn, catching a glimpse of movement out of the corner of her eye.

She hid her curiosity behind a professional smile, keeping her tone calm. "I've been tracking some unusual energy signatures in this area. It's likely nothing, but I wanted to make sure everything here is in order."

Jonathan shifted uncomfortably. "Everything's fine here, miss. We just keep to ourselves, mostly."

Diana nodded, but her mind was elsewhere. She could feel the presence of someone hiding nearby. Someone powerful.

Kara's POV

After what felt like hours, Kara finally made her decision. She couldn't stay hidden forever, and if this Diana woman was truly here to investigate her, then it was better to confront her now than to wait for things to escalate. Stepping out from behind the barn, Kara approached with caution, keeping her eyes locked on Diana.

When their gazes met, Diana's expression didn't change—there was no surprise, only quiet understanding. Kara stopped a few feet away, crossing her arms in a gesture meant to shield herself from whatever questions were about to come her way.

"I know you're not here by accident," Kara said, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her. "So, what do you want?"

Diana's POV

Diana studied the young woman standing before her. Blonde, tall, and radiating power—just as she had suspected. This wasn't just another metahuman; this was something far greater. Diana could feel the raw energy coursing beneath Kara's calm exterior. She had seen this kind of strength before—uncontrolled, unchecked, and often dangerous.

But there was no hostility in Kara's eyes. Only fear and protectiveness.

Diana softened her posture, making herself appear less like a government agent and more like someone Kara could trust. "I'm not here to cause any harm," she said gently. "I'm here because I believe you're special. You don't belong to this world, do you?"

Kara's jaw tightened, but she didn't respond.

"I understand what it's like to be different," Diana continued. "To have powers you didn't ask for, and to struggle with the weight of responsibility. I'm not here to expose you. I'm here to help."

Kara's POV

Help? Kara wasn't sure she believed that. But something in Diana's voice made her pause. There was no trace of condescension, no hint that she was being hunted. Instead, Diana seemed... genuine. Kara had spent her entire time on Earth running from potential threats, always afraid that someone would discover her and take Kal away from her. But Diana was offering something else.

"What do you know about me?" Kara asked, her tone a mix of suspicion and curiosity.

Diana smiled faintly. "Enough to know that you're not from here. I've been tracking the unusual energy in this area. I can sense power, Kara, and yours is unlike anything I've ever encountered."

For a moment, Kara considered denying it, but there was no point in lying. Diana had already figured out most of it. "And what do you plan to do with that information?"

"Nothing," Diana said simply. "Unless you want my help."

Kara blinked in surprise. That wasn't the answer she had been expecting. She had anticipated threats, intimidation, or at the very least, an ultimatum. But Diana seemed more interested in understanding than controlling.

"I can help you control your powers," Diana added, stepping closer. "I've trained many who've struggled with their abilities. I can teach you to master yours. And I can help you protect Kal."

Kara's eyes widened at the mention of Kal. "How do you—?"

"I can sense him," Diana said softly. "His potential is just as great as yours. But I know what it's like to protect someone you care about. And I want to help you do that."

Diana's POV

Diana could see the hesitation in Kara's eyes, but she also saw the flicker of hope. This girl—no, this woman—had been carrying the weight of responsibility for two lives, and it was clearly taking its toll. Diana recognized that look; she had seen it in her own reflection many times over the centuries.

Kara's next words were hesitant but decisive. "You said you could help me... how?"

Diana took a step forward, her voice calm and reassuring. "First, we work on controlling your abilities. Flight, strength, speed—it all needs balance. Once you master that, you'll be able to protect Kal better than anyone. I'll train you."

Kara looked down for a moment, considering the offer. When she finally looked back up, her eyes were clear. "Alright. I'll listen. But if this is a trick—"

"It's not," Diana interrupted softly. "You'll see."

Kara's POV

For the first time in a long while, Kara felt a sense of relief wash over her. Maybe, just maybe, Diana was telling the truth. And if she was, then perhaps Kara didn't have to do this alone. Maybe, with Diana's help, she could finally start to build a life for herself and Kal—one where they weren't constantly running or hiding.

But even as she allowed herself that glimmer of hope, Kara knew this was just the beginning. There would be more challenges ahead, and she wasn't ready to trust anyone fully yet—not even Diana.

Still, she nodded. "Alright. Let's see what you can teach me."
