Chapter 12

Mark's pov
A couple of days had passed since the wedding or more like the wedding for Derek and Meredith that was supposed to happen. Just about a few hours before the wedding Derek and Meredith decided to give there wedding to Karen and Steven's, I was actually surprised when I heard about it especially since how badly Derek wants to marry Meredith.

After the wedding I have been thinking a lot about me and Maddie and how I want to take the next step with her. I still live in a hotel room like I have been doing since I moved to Seattle in the first place, most of the times I stay at Maddie's place after and before work.
I have been thinking about asking Maddie to start looking after a place together so that she and I maybe could move In with each other.

I saw Maddie standing by the nurses station on the first floor, so I walked over to where she was standing. As I walked over to where Maddie was standing I noticed Derek was standing on the end of the nurses station but on the opposite side of Maddie.

Mark - hey! I have been thinking I'd start looking for a condo, I'm getting tired of living in a hotel.
Maddie - that's great. Then you'd finally have a place of your own.
Mark - actually, I was, you know, thinking maybe you'd......you'd come with me.
Maddie - absolutely. I'd love to see it. I'm happy for you.

That didn't end the way I thought it would end, especially since she clearly didn't get it that I was asking her to find a place for us.
Maddie walked away and I turned around to the side of where Derek was standing, and he had clearly heard the conversation between me and Maddie.

Mark - how much of that did you hear?
Derek - the part where you asked her to move in with you or where she shot you down? I was here for both. And, by the way, it's just way too early for you to be moving in with Maddie.

Typical Derek to have something to say about this.

Derek - you don't have to do everything I do.
Mark - this is not about you. I have my own future to think about. Life is short. Look at what's going on with Stevens.
Derek - don't worry about Stevens. I got a plan.

Almost everyone had gotten affected of what's going on with Izzy Stevens, of course I feel bad for her but I have tried to not get involved with everything since I don't really know her.

Meredith's pov
For the past couple of days especially after the wedding my focus at work has been on Izzy, she has gotten worse. I am currently in Izzy's room with Izzy, Alex, Christina, Derek and Dr Swender, we are discussing the next step for Izzy which is probably surgery.

Swender - you want to remove her hippocampus?
Derek - one of them. It's a common procedure.

Swender - removing her hippocampus could compromise her memory, her speech. She wouldn't be able to practice medicine anymore.
Derek - I've performed this hundreds of times.
Swender - on cancer patients?

Derek - no, but it's.....
Stevens - if you do the surgery, I could lose my memory?

It wasn't easy to be in the same room as Derek and Swender, they both had different ideas of what will be best for Stevens. Dr Swender does work on cancer patients since that is her specialty and Derek doesn't do that, but it is personal for Derek then it is for Swender.

Derek - it's unlikely, but it's possible.
Stevens - and if you don't do the surgery....
Swender - we could shrink the tumor with IL2.
Stevens - if the tumor doesn't kill me first.

Derek - why take the chance?
Swender - have you done a Wada test?
Derek - putting her brain to sleep and asking her to remember flash cards is not an accurate.....
Swender - but it would tell us whether or not she could function afterwards. As her physician.....
Derek - fine I'll do it. It's unnecessary.

This conversation between Derek and Swender didn't get closer to an answer if they should or shouldn't, I could tell that it wasn't easy for Izzy to hear all of this. I watched as Izzy just zoomed out and close her eyes, I probably would do the same thing if I was her.

Maddie's pov
I was standing by the nurses station on the cardio floor and I was currently filling out some paperwork for a surgery that I would soon get ready for.
As I was filling out some paper by the nurses station I noticed Mark walking over to me, I looked up for a second and then continued to fill out the paperwork.

Mark - I wasn't asking you to see the condo. I was asking you to move in with me.

I looked up at Mark as he mentioned moving in with him, I was shocked to hear him even say that especially since we haven't been dating for very long.

Mark - if that's what you want.
Maddie - I do.
Mark - you do?
Maddie - Yeah. Not right away.

Mark - no, of course not.....in like......

Maddie - 2 years.
Mark - 6month. I'm sorry what now?

We both said different things but at the same time, I wasn't sure if I would be ready or if he really would be ready.

Maddie - we haven't been dating for very long, and when we started it was a little difficult with the whole relationship.
Mark - how about 1 year?
Maddie - I don't know.

Mark - Meredith and Derek's relationship wasn't easy in the beginning and they are living together and soon will be married. Karev and Stevens just got married and what I have heard, there relationship wasn't easy as well in the beginning.

I was really confused, first talking about moving in together and then giving me examples for people that we know are married.

Maddie - I'm sorry, are you asking me to marry you?
Mark - no! Why? Would you?
Maddie - should we be having this conversation?
Mark - probably not.

I don't think that since me and Mark started to date that we have been running away from each other, especially not like we did right now. We both kind of just wanted to go and leave this awkward conversation, i don't think that Mark wanted our conversation to end the way it did.

I was glad that he wasted me to move in with me and of course I want to take that step with him, but not right now. The last guy that I was dating and living with was controlling, and we moved in with each other all too soon. I guess that I'm scared for that to happen again, even if I know that Mark and my ex aren't the same person or even close in personality.

Soon I will be work g on season 6 and it will be a lot better, it is hard to write in Maddie Grey in the last few chapters based on season 5.
