"It will happen tonight."

_______________

Lily sighs in disappointment, watching the Slytherin team get off their brooms on the pitch. She shakes her head and turns to leave the stands, Crabbe and Goyle right behind her, when suddenly she feels one of them shove against her, nearly pushing her over the edge of the stands.

"Hey!" she exclaims, but upon turning her head, she sees that they weren't at fault.

Professor Snape is trying to push past them, causing them to stumble forward and push Lily again. The crowd all around them isn't helping in the slightest, as they are eager to get out of here, too, to bully the winners.

Professor Snape finally makes it past Crabbe and Goyle, but Lily's foot gets tangled with his. In her hurry and desperation to get out of his way, she presses herself to the barrier and jumps up, and he accidentally pushes her over the edge.

The next few seconds seem to happen in slow motion - a cruel illusion of the mind to make your last moments seem longer than they truly are.

Three sets of arms reach out to her over the barrier. She grazes her finger's against Goyle's and Crabbe nearly grabs a hold of her ankle, but she's falling too quickly, her messy hair tangling in her face from the wind.

She doesn't dare look down, she doesn't want to know how soon she will break her skull and die. Seconds. She has mere seconds left to live.

She thinks about taking out her wand, but her mind is in no state to choose a spell to save her life and her hands are too busy flailing, so she can only stare at her terrified friends.

She's falling so fast, the wind is deafening. Or perhaps that's her rapidly beating heart doing its best to keep pumping blood to her brain for as long as possible.

Her brain.

Lily would laugh at the irony of that if her face wasn't stuck in a grimace of terror.

This whole time she's thought her visions will be the end of her, but she never gave accidents a second thought.

Accidents... Professor Snape had warned her of accidents. She sees his hand reach over the edge, his wand pointed at her, and her body lurches violently as the falling stops.

She's levitating in the air now, her heart pounding in her ears, but the wind's gone so she can hear the concerns of the people around her.

She flinches when she feels herself moving again, but relaxes when she realises that Professor Snape is lowering her to the ground. When she feels the short grass beneath her, she lies motionless, unable to move.

She's hyperventilating, her breaths coming out in short, hurried huffs. She's aware of the fact that her whole body is trembling, as people are gathering around her now, staring, muttering to each other, pointing...

Someone kneels beside her, slapping her cheek. Harry. No one else would dare slap her that hard.

"Lily! Lily, are you hurt anywhere?"
