The sun was fading fast as Hitch Dreyse fiddled with her headlamp, squinting because it was getting dark quickly at the cave's entrace. Beside her, Annie Leonhart stood still, her face serious as always, but Hitch could see a little glint in her eyes—yeah, she was excited, even if she wouldn't admit it.

"I still can't believe you talk me into this," Hitch said, glancing at the small, tight entrance to the cave. The air was damp, thick, and made her feel a bit uneasy.

Annie shrugged, her usual cool demeanor intact. "You said you wanted more adventure."

"Yeah, well," Hitch grinned nervously, eyeing the cave opening, "I didn't say I wanted to crawl into a death trap."

The entrance was tiny, barely big enough for one person at a time, leading into tunnels that were known for being extremely tight. The Nutty Putty Cave, Hitch had joked when they first read about it. The cave where people got stuck and... didn't make it out.

"You scared?" Annie asked, her tone flat but with a hint of teasing.

Hitch scoffed, trying to act braver than she felt. "No way. I just expect you to pull me out if I get stuck, right?" She gave Annie a playful wink, trying to mask her nerves.

Annie's lips twitched into the faintest of smiles. "Mabye."

With that, Annie crouched down and began crawling into the tight entrance of the cave, leaving Hitch to follow. Hitch sighed, then crawled after her.
