After hours of crawling and navigating through tight, winding tunnels, they hit dead end. The passage suddenly stopped, leaving them in a cramped chamber with no clear way forward.
"Uh, Annie?" Hitch's voice trembled slightly. "Is this where we turn around?"
Annie frowed, examing the walls. "I think we took a wrong turn somewerhe."
Hitch's heart sank. "So we're lost."
Annie's gaze softened. "We're not lost. We just need to find the right path."
The silence between them grows heavy. Hitch's usual optimism fade, replaced by a strong fear. "What if we don't make it out?" she asked quietly.
Annie moved closer, her face illuminated by the faint light of their headlamps. "We will. I'm not letting this cave get the best of us."
Hitch reached out, gentley touching Annie's cheek. "You always know how to make me feel better. You're like my rock, you know?"
Annie's eyes softened, and she leaned in, pressing her lips to Hitch's in a tender kiss. The moment was calm, sweet, and reassuring. When they pulled apart, Hitch felt her fears ease a little.
"Thanks," Hitch whispered.
Annie nodded, her gaze firm. "We'll get out of here."
