I woke up the next morning, smiling, and content. I barely felt my sore back. It being Friday, I got ready to take Aaron to school. I looked around my room, trying to remember where I put my diner uniform. My room was, moderately sized, but looked a little plain. The only furniture in it being; the bed, vanity, dresser, and a book shelf. I never spent much time in my room, I never like be cooped up in one place, therefore I felt no need for it to be special. The walls were, of course, red, and all the furniture was black. The only thing I did in my room was sleep and read. I love reading, not as much as I love being a thief, but it keeps me occupied on the nights I don’t jump off buildings.

After searching for 10 minutes, I still hadn’t found my uniform. I was about to go wake Quinn up and ask her, but then I saw it out of the corner of my eye. There it sat neatly folded on my dresser. Right in front of me… I sighed, snatching it in one hand then walking down the hall to take a shower.

After I was showered and dressed in my uniform, I walked down stairs to get breakfast ready for Aaron before he got up. I was just trying to decide weather to make him pancakes or waffles when I stepped into the kitchen and saw Quinn cooking eggs and bacon and humming a tune. At the kitchen table, to the right of the stove, Aaron sat already awake and dressed. Quinn looked over her shoulder and quickly and saw me.

“Morning Rika! How are you feeling?” Quinn asked, turning back to the stove.

“I’m fine.” I said, my gaze turning suspicious.

“Well sit down. Breakfast will be ready in just a minute.”

“Uh, Quinn you didn’t have to do all this. Really I’m fine.” I put on a reassuring smile. It was sweet of Quinn to get up and make me and Aaron breakfast, but the thing is… Quinn can’t cook. She tries; however, most of the time what ever she makes is inedible. I sat at the table across from Aaron. He was unusually quiet.

“Really Quinn, Aaron and I can get something on the way. We don’t want to trouble you.” I said, desperate to get out of having to eat her cooking.

“Oh no, it’s no trouble at all.” She giggled happily “Besides, it’s already finished.”

Quinn placed a plate in front of me. The eggs were so badly burnt that you almost couldn’t tell what they were. The bacon, on the other hand, was so raw I swear it was still moving.  Quinn handed a plate to Aaron.

“Well since breakfast is taken care of, I’m going to go get started on your equipment. I think I’ve figured out the issue with your cable belt.” Quinn began to skip out of the room.

“Thank you for the food Quinn.” I smiled again then looked towards Aaron who was poking his bacon with a fork. I cleared my throat to get his attention.

“Oh, yes, thank you Quinn.” He said sweetly. I taught him well.

“No problem guys. Have a great day!” She yelled over her shoulder, proceeding to skip out of the room.

“I think this beacon is still alive.” Aaron said as soon as Quinn was gone.

We took one last look at our food.
