He has Dallas' jacket in his closet, and always has his necklace on, hiding it under his shirt.
After the rumble with the Socs, so much had happened. Johnny had died, then Dallas got himself shot. Everyone had been devastated after the two's death, especially Ponyboy. Ponyboy sat in front of his desk, wondering about his life.
What's remained of them? Ponyboy got up and wandered over to the small closet him and Sodapop shared in their room, opening the door and staring at the clothes and little items that hang from inside it. Their was Dallas's leather jacket, alongside his and Sodapop's clothing. And something he hasn't told anybody, was that he secretly stole Dally's necklace, and always wore it. Today he was in his favourite white and blue plaid shirt, and he could feel the cool metal pendant against his chest. And as for Johnny? Ponyboy kept whatever scrap of Johnny Cade's demin jacket possible. Which, it was very charred and burnt from that church fire..
It still hurt him to think about, knowing that two of his best friends had just recently deceased and there was nothing he could do about it. He soon found himself writing down his thoughts and feelings into a journal, and after that, going outside to have a smoke.
