3 years later

8:30 PM

Sharjeena checked the time again on her phone and scrolled through her messages to see if she missed anything from him. She read a quick dua and mentally blew on him as she put final touches in the kitchen.

"Just landed" her phone pinged...message from him...who she was praying for a few seconds ago

Mustafa had been in Singapore for a work trip the last few days and while she was used to him travelling now, air travels, delays, bad weather etc always gave her anxiety. She waited on pins and needles until he told her he had landed safely.

That incident in his parents home was now 3 years ago and while it seemed like a long time had passed, it was still fresh in her mind. Although life had worked out for them almost instantly after leaving that toxic house. Almost like that house was holding them back. Both their careers thrived as they stood by each other like rocks. They built this home by the sea with their own hard work and everything they had today was a fruit of their own labour.

It was a huge apartment with all of the modern amenities including servants and staff. It was filled with books, and latest tech gadget, lots of colourful textiles and art pieces. Reflecting the best of both their personalities

Time had also brought comeuppance for his family members. His parents had a quick realization about what they did as their world fell apart really fast once Mustafa and Sharjeena left. They were sorry and while Mustafa always said he forgave them, going back to live at that house was now out of question as Adeel, now divorced and unemployed due to his fraud conviction, lived there permanently

"Sharjeena!!" She heard his voice before she heard the door. Always calling her name.

He walked in wearing a tshirt and jeans, his hair in its' signature mess, carrying a laptop bag and his iPad in hand. A smile on his face as he saw her coming to the foyer. Oh how she missed him! He walked over after dumping his things on one of the console tables in the foyer and dropped a kiss on her head with a "missed you!" before pulling her into a hug.

They stayed like that for several minutes before she pulled her head out and asked "dair ho gayi?

M: haan yaar flight was delayed

S: go freshen up I will get the table set up. She said holding his face in her hands.

Mustafa sat at the table scrolling through his phone as the maid brought out all the dishes "I took Aba for his cardiologist appointment yesterday, everything is good Alhumdulilah" Sharjeena said as she walked over to the table

M: Hmmm, he said without looking up

S: Mustafaaaaa put your phone away you just got home, she whined

M: Acha sorry, ajao please I'm hungry

She sat down beside him and started serving him and herself

M: Thank you for cooking today

Sharjeena didn't cook everyday now that she had help at home but she still cooked for him often. She never had to tell him she made the food, he just knew. Mustafa loved her food, especially if he had been away from home for a few days. No matter where he went or what he did, the desi inside his heart craved his wife's home made food.

He reached out to hold her hand and dropped a quick kiss on her knuckles before going back to eating.

M: what else is new? He asked in between bites

S: I have a haircut appointment tomorrow and then I want to go see Rameen. She got her result today and has done really well

M: Nice. I got some thing for her, remind me to take that when we go tomorrow
