"KEISUKE! DID YOU GET IN ANOTHER FIGHT?!"
"AH! OKAA-SAN! I'M SORRY!"
Takemichi watches from the couch as Tooru chases after Keisuke with a shoe. The poor boy wasn't even hurt that much, only a scratch, but Tooru is forever the loving parent and worries. What Takemichi did notice was the boy who was standing off to the side. It was hard not to notice when his pompadour was sticking out and it took all in Takemichi not to laugh because what the fuck? This was his partner? He couldn't say much when he had yellow hair in middle school but still. Chifuyu?!
Chifuyu was watching the mother and son scene with slight concern but didn't move to do anything. He also kept glancing at Takemichi, which was kind of weird but Chifuyu was weird so Takemichi just raised a brow and the boy immediately looked away. Kazutora, who was just standing next to him just looked at Takemichi and shrugged. Takemichi huffs and then walks over to the boys.
"Kazutora-kun." Takemichi nods at the boy in acknowledgment before turning to Chifuyu. "You're new."
Chifuyu looks off to the side before looking back at Takemichi, "Uh, yeah." He stares for a second longer before clearing his throat, "I'm Matsuno Chifuyu."
Takemichi looks at him for a second before reaching out his hand, "Hanagaki-Baji Takemichi." The Hanagaki-Baji family just tacked each other's last names together out of convenience. It was great.
Chifuyu takes his hand and bows slightly out of respect for his friend's parents, "Hanagaki-Baji-san."
Takemichi lets out an amused huff, "Fuck, that's a mouth full. Just use Hanagaki. It's what everyone does anyway."
"Hanagaki-san," Chifuyu corrects.
A sudden shout comes from across the room, "TOU-SAN! DON'T INTERROGATE MY FRIENDS!" Keisuke yelps as Tooru catches up to him, "OKAA-SAN!"
"STOP GETTING HURT!" Tooru yells back. "I LET YOU DO YOUR GANG STUFF SO THE LEAST YOU CAN DO IS NOT WORRY YOUR POOR MOTHER!"
"And father!" Takemichi chimes in unhelpfully. The little fucking instigator.
"AND FATHER!" Tooru echoes.
Kazutora is already used to these antics. As Tooru yells at Keisuke, Takemichi can hear Kazutora telling Chifuyu, "Don't mind them. Baji-san and Baji-kun always do this."
Chifuyu looks a mix of awe and horror, "Really...?"
"Yeah," Takemichi chimes in and then yells at Tooru. "Tooru! I think I saw a bruise on his hip when his shirt rode up!"
"TOU-SAN!" Keisuke screams in betrayal.
Tooru narrows her eyes and looks at said bruise before bulling Keisuke's arm and forcing him to sit on the couch, "You are grounded for a week!"
Keisuke's head snaps up at Tooru, "Okaa-san?!"
Takemichi chuckles and lets them talk. He turns toward the other two boys, "Are you staying for dinner?"
Before Chifuyu could respectfully decline – having just met the family – and leave, Kazutora interrupts, "Yes! Thank you, Hanagaki-san!"
Takemichi smiles and nods before going to the kitchen to get dinner ready. Chifuyu looks at Kazutora in disbelief. What is up with him?
Kazutora sees his look and whispers, "Hanagaki-san's cooking is god-tier. Don't fucking decline it. It's so damn good."
Chifuyu absently nods and accepts his fate at a Hanagaki-Baji dinner.
"Chifuyu-kun, can you pass the shoyu?"
"Uh, yes, Hanagaki-san-"
"TORA! FUCK YOU!"
"Keisuke, language!"
"I'M SORRY, OKAA-SAN, BUT HE TOOK THE LAST PIECE OF KATSU!"
"We don't fight for food in this house, Keisuke. Have some of mine."
"Thank you, Tou-san..."
"Ah, Chifuyu-kun, the napkins are closer to you, can you hand me one."
"Of course, Hanagaki-san!"
"Chifuyu, don't listen to him."
"Uhhhhhhhh..."
Safe to say, any dinner involving the Hanagaki-Baji family is destined for disaster. Chifuyu was being a parent-pleaser the whole time. Takemichi was passively bulling him by asking him to hand him things. Kazutora was Kazutora. Shameless. Keisuke was being loud as a banshee. He was also once again proven to be a daddy's boy even though he's also a mommy's boy. He chose both and no one can fight it. And Tooru just wants to eat in peace. Just once. However, no one gets what they want and dinner is over.
"Chifuyu-kun, please take some home to your mother." Takemichi prepacked Tupperware and handed it to the boy. Chifuyu did so much for him in his last life. This was the least Takemichi could do to repay for his kindness and trust, even if Chifuyu doesn't remember.
"Thank you, Hanagaki-san," Chifuyu looked down at the food and back to Takemichi. There was a look in his eyes that Takemichi couldn't decipher, "Dinner was great."
Takemichi nods and waves him off, "Then off you go! Shoo! Shoo!" He then turns to Keisuke, "Keisuke! Walk your friend home!"
Keisuke grumbles, "Okay, okay, I'm coming."
Kazutora already left since he lived a bit further than Chifuyu. Got to fill in all those plot holes. Oh, shit, my bad. Anyway. Kazutora is out of the picture.
Once the boys leave, Takemichi plops on the couch and rests his head on Tooru's lap. She absentmindedly ran her fingers through Takemichi's hair as she continued reading her book. Takemichi took a glance at the cover of the book: "Manual for Suffering". Oh, what the fuck, Tooru? Takemichi doesn't want to know but maybe he should give her extra hugs later. Yeah, hugs always make her smile. Those really exaggerated squeezing hugs. Takemichi really loves his wife.
See, Tooru is usually a very busy person. She doesn't have any free days and her weekends are filled with doing chores and time with her family. And by family, she means Ran and Rindou because she sees her other boys six times a week. She can spare an hour of her weekend for her unofficially claimed kids because they are her kids. Tooru doesn't know what Takemichi did for her to allow her to visit her babies not behind glass, but in a small room but she'll take it. She's called him out on nepotism on multiple occasions but he just laughs her off. She'll get him one day, but not today. Today is the day she can see her other children. God knows how many unofficial children she has with Takemichi as her husband.
Tooru sits in one of the rooms, tapping the floor with her foot in nervousness. It looked very much like an interrogation room. It probably is one. She usually comes to visit with Takemichi but he had a shoot scheduled so she decided that she could go by herself. When the door opened, she immediately looked up. Tooru stood up to her boys and gave them a big hug.
Rindou awkwardly patted her back while Ran melted into the hug, "Kaa-chan!"
"I miss you both," Tooru squeezes them tighter before letting them go. "Sorry, Michi couldn't make it today so it's just me."
"Don't apologize," Rindou sat down in one of the chairs and grabbed the cooler that was on the floor.
Tooru notices and smacks his hand, "Be patient!"
"Yeah, Rindou, only good boys get food," Ran sticks out his tongue playfully.
Rin's head snapped at his brother, "You-"
"Both of you will get some. Calm down," Tooru rolls her eyes and grabs the cooler to unpack it.
Both boys grinned.
"Thank you, Kaa-san~!"
"Thanks..."
Tooru at them and smiled. They're so grown up now...
