✿ Aileen's POV

I blink at the chaos in the great room.

Oh my goodness...

Antoinette had gotten out of control. This was nothing like a small event. People were running around with flowers and linens and...

“An orchestra?” I make a face as I watch the orchestra set up in one corner for what looks like rehearsals. “Oh my God” I sigh and rub my forehead, too busy to notice Reid slid up beside me till I feel his hands on the small of my back.

“Hey,” he whispers into my neck.

“Armani—”

“Shhh, shh, shh, shhh” he cuts me off with a whisper.

I turn my neck to look at him.

“I know. But letʼs put that on hold. Right now? Cʼmon, letʼs get out of here” He gently brushes my cheek with his thumb and leans back into my neck. “I want to kiss you” He whispers in my ear.

I donʼt need any more of an invitation, and follow him out of the door as I hear the orchestra start tuning their instruments.

Once outside, Reid pushes me behind a pillar and kisses me. It feels urgent and desperate as if he needed to get his fix. I open my mouth for him and he slips his tongue inside, and as soon as our tongues touch, the energy of the kiss changes.

It goes from hard and passionate to something quite the opposite. It slows down, it becomes soft and gentle and he starts running his hands through my hair. I do the same, running my fingers through his silky honey-brown hair.

The kissing stops, but we stay close to each other, our foreheads and noses touching as we hold each other there for the longest time until Reid breaks it.

“I know youʼre upset about the party. But letʼs hold off on that. Iʼm starving. Would you like to go get some lunch with me?”

I pout and shrug a little.

“Yeah. I could eat... I guess.”

“Excellent” Reid smiles and takes me by the hand before leading me out of the house and into the massive garden.

Itʼs only when weʼre halfway across the lawn that I notice the picnic basket in his other hand.

“Wait, are we going for a picnic?”

“Yes, we are” he smiles.

“Aww” I chuckle.

“I know” he smirks and suddenly lets go of my hand. “Hey, are you fast?” heʼs walking around me now.

“Um... I donʼt know. Why?”

“Last one to the end of the garden is a rotten tomato!” He screams and starts running across the lawn taking huge strides.

“Youʼre kidding right?!” I shout after him.

But he doesnʼt stop and keeps on running.

“Oh cʼmon!” I laugh and start running across the lawn.

By the time I reach the other side, Iʼm totally out of breath. My hair has fallen out of its ponytail, and beads of sweat are starting to appear on my forehead.

Reid stands there waiting for me, making a big show of casually leaning against a railing as if heʼd arrived there an hour before me.

“Wow, you look sexy when youʼre out of breath.”

“Shut up.”

He chuckles and opens a small gate.

“Cʼmon.”
