"mama, i think dada left us."
"mama, i think dada left us." eleanora, their 3 year old frowned, thought the words werent really said correctly, as her father slammed the front door. isabella didn't say anything, she pursed her lips trying not to cry infront of her little girl. "i'm going outside for a second alright? can you stay here and watch tv?" isabella asked eleanora, as the little girl climbed onto the sofa. eleanora nodded, pressing the button to turn on the tv. isabella opened the front door, seeing as her husband, maxon, slammed the trunk closed. "maxon, don't leave us like this!" isabella called after him, the rain pouring down.
"i have to go. you and eleanora are holding my career back." maxon said, glaring. "i don't want to go to wherever your fellowship is, i want to stay here in florida! i want to stay here, i want ellie to grow up with her friends." isabella sighed, walking over to him. "you're not considering me or what I want! i want to go to Seattle! Mayo Clinic no longer is what i want, isabella. mercy west is offering everything i need, everything....i mean i'd be closer to my family." maxon argued.
"we are your family! remember us too." isabella shot back. but it was too late. maxon had already gotten in the car, driving off. isabella was dripping wet, soaked from the rain. she started sobbing, falling to the floor on her knees. she believed in him for so long, she believed in their love. i mean, they even had a child. hadn't she given enough? hadn't she...hadn't she worked so hard for them? after a bit, she stood up wiping her tears away. she opened the front door and saw eleanora there. eleanora ran towards her mother, she didn't care she was wet. she hugged her, the both falling to the floor.
a fresh new start. that was what isabella and eleanora needed, so when Dr. Richard Webber offered her the postition as head of pediatric surgery it was a very hard decision to say no to. eleanora was restless, the six year old sitting next to her mother as she conversed with Richard Webber. "now, lets go introduce you to our residents." richard smiled. "uhm, where do i leave eleanora, i know that th-" isabella started, but she was cut off by richard. "oh, we'll have a nurse take her up to the daycare." richard said, as a nurse opened the door. "thank you, so much. for everything, really, richard." isabella thanked him, shaking his hand.
"this is alex karev and april kepner, they'll be the fourth year residents on your service." richard said, introducing her to the residents. "hello, i'm doctor isabella grey, i'll be your attending for the day." isabella greeted, as the residents stared. "i have a few patients that are being transferred from mayo to here and the first one is about to in a minute or two." she informed, the residents looked eager, alex's hand was the first to shoot up. "kepner, you're with me. karev, i have a projectile vomiter in the E.R." she said.
"hey, i need to steal gr-" a man said, approaching her. "isabella cecilia grey!" the man, mark sloan, said. "mark!" she said, as he engulfed her in a hug. "i thought you would stay at New York after the Derek and Addison fiasco." isabella said, referring to the fiasco that happened between him, addison and derek. "Oh, I left for seattle. derek is here, addie was but she left after a bit." mark chuckled. "well, who did you want to steal?" she asked. "i wanted to steal grey but it seems webber didn't give you grey."
"grey? what do you mean, grey?" isabella asked, furrowing her brows. "meredith grey? your sister, dumb fuck." mark laughed. "my sister is here?" she gasped, her eyes widening. "oh, you didn't know. sorry. anyways, i'm going to steal karev." mark shrugged, patting karevs back. when the resident didn't move, he furrowed his brows. "i want peds, i thought i told you already." alex scoffed, pushing april infront. "go steal residents elsewhere." isabella said, pushing mark away.
"why did you leave me? you knew mom wasn't well! you left me, you left me!" meredith yelled at her, hitting isabella's back with her lunch tray as she waited in line to buy lunch. "ouch! oh, meredith, my dear siste-" isabella started, wincing, rubbing her back. "don't 'dear sister'me! not even a bye?" meredith scoffed. "well, where is mom?" isabella asked, shrugging. "mom is dead! so will you when i finish with you." meredith threatened. "mom's dead?" isabella asked, frowning. "grey, i need you to finish up some charts." a oh so familiar voice said. isabella didn't turn around. she knew it all too well, not having to turn around to know who it was.
"maxon." isabella breathed, turning around to see him. "isabella." he said, blinking a few times. "i thought you where at mercy west..." isabella started, taking a strand of her hair and pushing it back. "the merger.", he said simply, "seattle grace is merging with mercy west." "oh..." isabella mumbled, as meredith pushed her forward so she'd take her lunch. "where's eleanora?" maxon asked, paying for her lunch. "i can pay for my own lunch, maxon." isabella scoffed, taking money from her pocket. "i know, i just thought you'd tell me where my daughter is if i paid for your lunch." maxon shrugged, taking her tray and setting it down infront of his on the table.
"maxon, i don't think eleanora wants to see you." isabella murmured, sitting down after he did. "i think she does, i think you don't want me to see her." maxon rolled his eyes, picking up his fork. "maxon, she's probably forgotten all about you. i know you really want to see you but she was so young when you left...maybe it isnt right for you to meet her." isabela sighed, looking him up and down. he wore the navy blue scrubs she did too, but his hair was a bit more grayish since she last saw him. she'd seen him on magazine's, about his succesful career and what he had published but he had changed and so had she.
