Thank you all for the support! I dedicated this chapter to @heheimright Make sure to follow her and check out her book!

Here's the chapter:

Kenric Jr.'s POV:

How am I supposed to tell Summer I like her if I can't even talk to her? Kenric thought, and kicked at the dirt. Every time he even thought about telling her, he got tongue-tied. He wasn't usually this bad at talking to people, but something about Summer made him feel like an awkward mess.

He watched as Summer sailed into the air, landing a perfect backflip. Summer, Myla, and Jolie were on the Foxfire Cheer Team, and cheer for the tackle bramble team, which Kenric played on.

Summer flipped her hair and applauded as Jolie did a roundoff and ended up levitating above her.

"Come on Kenric, just go talk to her! She's completely oblivious if she doesn't know already." Arwen said.

"Oh really? Fine, then, I'll go talk to Summer, if YOU go talk to Myla."

Arwen flushed red, and muttered something that sounded like, "Forget it."

Then Balin gave Kenric a light shove, pushing him towards Summer. "Go!"

He took a deep breath and walked over to Summer. "Hey, Summer. Can we talk?"

*****

On the inside, Summer was freaking out. But on the outside, she knew that she had to play it cool.

"Sure," Summer replied, trying to keep her voice steady. "What's up?"

Kenric shifted on his feet, his usual confidence replaced with nerves. He glanced back at Arwen and Balin, who were pretending not to watch but were clearly eavesdropping.

"Um, I was just wondering..." Kenric stammered. "If, uh, you'd like to maybe... hang out sometime? Outside of the group, I mean."

Summer blinked. Hang out? Kenric wanted to hang out with her? She fought to keep her expression calm.

"Like... a date?" Summer asked, teasing just a little, her lips curving into a smile.

Kenric's face flushed red. "Yeah... I mean, if you want. No pressure though."

Summer paused for a second, pretending to think about it.

"I'd like that," she finally said. "But only if you can teach me how to play bramble. I need to know what all the hype is about."

Kenric smirked. "Yeah, ok. But I have to warn you, I'm pretty good!"

*****

Kenric could hardly believe Summer had said yes. His heart raced as he stood outside the Foxfire bramble field, waiting for her. He'd never been this nervous.

She showed up a few minutes later, wearing a casual green tunic and leggings, her hair tied back in a simple braid.

"Hey," she greeted, flashing him that same smile that always made his stomach do the kind flips that she always did. "Ready to teach me how this bramble thing works?"

Kenric grinned, grabbing one of the bramble balls. "Of course. Let me show you the basics first."

He spent the next few minutes explaining the game, pointing out the tackle zones, levitation spots, rules, and the enchanted hoops they had to aim for. Summer listened quietly.

After a quick example from Kenric, it was time for her to try. Summer held the triangular bramble ball awkwardly at first. But then, after Kenric corrected her, she threw the ball into the enchanted hoop, which is hard, because the hoops move.

"Not bad!" Kenric. "Think you're ready for a real match?"

Summer gave her signature smirk, levitating slightly above the ground. "Bring it on."

They played for what felt like hours. When they finally stopped, they both were out of breath.

As they sat on the grass, Kenric couldn't help but glance at Summer, and he knew he had to tell her.

"Summer," he began. "I, uh... I really like you."

"I like you too, Kenric," she said, her eyes meeting his.

And just like that, all the nerves melted away.

*****

They sat in silence for a moment.

"So..." Kenric said, dragging a hand through his hair. "What do we do now?"

Summer laughed. "I don't know, but it's getting late. We should probably get home before they send out a search party!"

Kenric agreed and pulled out his home crystal. "Well, see ya around, Summer. I'll hail you in the morning."

As he started to activate his crystal, he hesitated, glancing back at Summer. "Before we go, there's just one more thing," he said, his voice a softer.

Summer raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What's that?"

Kenric took a deep breath and leaned in, giving her a brief kiss on the cheek.

Summer was taken aback for a moment, then smiled. "See you later, Kenric," she said softly, and she too pulled out her home crystal.
