Here's your chapter!!!

"Wait... so, Kenric likes Summer? And Summer likes him?" Iris asked, glancing around the dinner table.

Keefe, who had been in the middle of a bite, choked on his food. He cleared his throat.  "When did that happen?" he asked.

Kenric, who was sitting at the table with them, looked up. "Uh, yeah, it's true," he said.

"Wait, you're serious? I had no idea," Jolie said, looking between Kenric and Iris. "How come Summer never told me? When did this happen?"

Kenric gave a smile. "Yeah, I guess we kept it quiet. It just sort of happened tonight."

Iris nodded. " I didn't know it was that serious either."

Jolie still looked a stunned. "I just can't believe Summer didn't say anything. I mean, she usually tells me everything."

"I mean, it was pretty recent. I mean, like two hours ago!"

Sophie, who had been quiet this entire time, laughed. "I did NOT expect this!" She said, reaching over the table for a blitzenberry muffin.

Kenric shifted in his seat. "We were talking, and it just... came up. "

Jolie shook her head. "So Summer didn't say anything to me at all. That's so unlike her."

Kenric shrugged. "We didn't really plan on telling anyone yet. It just happened."

Sophie, who had stayed quiet until now, finally spoke up. "I did NOT see this coming," she said, grabbing a blitzenberry muffin with a grin. "Guess things are getting interesting."

Iris tilted her head. "So, Kenric, does this mean you're making things official with Summer?"

Kenric flushed slightly. "Uh, well, we're just taking it slow for now."

Sophie, tried to keep the mood light, leaned in. "Hey, as long as you two are happy, that's all that matters."

Jolie managed a small smile. "I'm happy for you, Kenric. And for Summer."

But Kenric couldn't help wonder if she was being sincere.

Jolie's POV:

Why wouldn't Summer tell me about this? Jolie thought as she brushed her long, shiny hair for bed. We tell each other everything!

She decided to invite Myla over and talk to her about it. Myla leaped right over in about five minutes.

"Did you know about Summer and Kenric?" Jolie asked her while munching on a slice of mallowmelt.

Myla's eyes widened. "What about them?"

"So she didn't tell you either." Jolie spent the next ten minutes updating Myla on the situation.

She nearly choked on her mallowmelt. "Wait—what?! Summer and Kenric? And she didn't tell either of us?"

Jolie nodded. "Exactly! We always talk about everything, but now I'm finding out from Kenric at dinner?"

Myla put her mallowmelt down, in shock. "I can't believe it. Why wouldn't she say anything? I mean, we're her best friends! She should trust us!"

And now she's keeping this huge thing from us? It doesn't make sense." Jolie said.

Myla shook her head. "How did she think we wouldn't find out? And why wouldn't she trust us to know?"

Jolie was pacing around the room. "Exactly. I don't care that it's Kenric, I just don't get why she didn't tell us."

Myla was still trying to process everything. "It's not like her to keep things from us. I mean, we've been through everything together."

Jolie crossed her arms. "I just don't understand. We're supposed to be closer than this."

Myla nodded, clearly upset as well. "We need to talk to her. There's no way we're letting this slide without getting some answers."

Jolie agreed. "First thing tomorrow. We're getting to the bottom of this."

Iris's POV:

Iris was worried about something she'd been trying to push to the back of her mind for days, Balin.

She started to stare out her window. Jolie had Myla to talk to about, well, everything. But Iris? Willow just wasn't into that kind of stuff.

It didn't make sense. He was Balin! The same Balin she'd known forever. So why did she feel jealous when he joked around with the other girls, even though she told herself she didn't care?

She groaned. This was ridiculous. She was supposed to be the carefree one who didn't worry about this stuff. Now, she couldn't stop thinking about whether Balin ever looked at her.

She covered her face with a pillow, her cheeks burning. I can't like Balin, she thought. It's just... too weird.

But then...

She liked him. There, she admitted it.

Iris bit her lip, staring at the ceiling.

How was she supposed to tell Balin this, or worse, her friends?

Summer's POV:

So... that just happened.

Summer sat on the edge of her bed. It wasn't Kenric's confession that had her stomach in knots, it was the thought of how Jolie and Myla were going to react. She hadn't said anything to either of them, and now it felt like she was keeping this huge secret.

Why didn't I tell them sooner? She groaned. Jolie was her best friend. And Myla? She'd probably be just as shocked. They always shared everything, so why had not shared this?

Her mind spinning was spinning. They're going to be upset. And she couldn't blame them. Jolie, especially, would feel betrayed.

They were supposed to trust each other with everything, and here she was, hiding something like this.

Summer sighed, pulling her knees to her chest. She hadn't meant to keep it from them. It had all just happened so fast, and she hadn't even fully wrapped her own mind around it yet. But now that Kenric had told his family, it felt like there was no turning back.

I should've told them first...

She could already imagine the look on Jolie's face, that  Myla would probably try to play it cool, but she'd be just as upset.

 They would feel left out.

I'll have to tell them soon, she thought. But how? She didn't want to make things weird between them, but keeping it secret wasn't an option.

She needed to talk to them. Soon.

Hey guys! How was that? Hope you liked it! Dedicating this chapter to @Sokeefelover22 thanks for being so nice and supportive!
