A couple days ago, I read this article that discusses a theory about Mars having a long lost moon, which explains its odd terrains and shape compared to the other rocky planets. It stated that this moon got lost or could have been the formation of Phobos and Deimos. So... why not make this some lore for my favourite character!
Athena, first moon of Mars. Size of Luna but oddly shaped. She was intelligent, threatening the whole stability of power in the Solar System. Moons, at that time, were supposed to be weak, not intelligent, and only ever follow their planets. Yes, social status. Most planets feared her, she could outsmart anyone. The only person who truly liked her, adored her was her planet, Ares. He was her sunshine, her joy and happiness (like Phobos and Deimos). Once, she started to figure out what Phaeton was doing to her planet, she disappeared. Never to be seen again. Is she dead? Is she alive? No one knows but Mars always sees her in his two moons.
(Phobos and Deimos are actually smart. Deimos proved that when they, along with Titan and Luna, had to answer the Sun's question).
